Description of 1969 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series |
You're looking at one of the lowest mileage examples of a 6.3 on the market today. This car was part of a collection of (5) 6.3s that were owned by a prominent Colorado cattleman. He passed away years ago and his cars were kept in the family until last winter, t which time they decided it was time to part with them. According to the family, his gentleman bought his first one new off the showroom floor in December of 1970 (we have that car, oo), nd fell so in love with his car that, ver the years, very time a well-cared for example came available he'd buy it, rive it around a little bit, nd then promptly store it. This car was always kept in a climate controlled garage, nd it shows. The interior is all original with just the customary wear you'd expect from such a low mileage example. The Macassar Ebony wood is intact and in very good, riginal condition. The seats, ront and rear, ook and feel excellent. No rips, o tears, o cracking on the bolsters. We just installed a refurbished Becker Mexico cassette radio from Becker Auto Sound. It looks awesome, nd carries their one year parts/labor warranty. The headliner was sagging a bit, o we ordered and installed the factory headliner from GAHH; now it looks perfect. There was one minor crack in the dash near the radio speaker, s shown in the pictures. We've had it repaired, o it's not very noticeable now. There was a leather steering wheel wrap on the car when we got it; we noticed a small crack in the steering wheel once we removed that. The car runs very strong and shifts thru all the gears like it's supposed to. We've changed all the fluids and filters, leaned the fuel tank, he fuel sending unit, nd replaced the air bags on the suspension because of their age. There was a small, ntermittent leak on the rear suspension leveling valve that weelected to have professionally rebuilt by 600airsuspension.com. Check out their website; they are definitely one of the go-to authorities on these air suspensions and actually rebuild them better than factory new. The car appears to have had a respray in the original 040 black paint code on the data plate; it sure shines up nice! There is some pitting of the chrome on one of the rear bumpers, nd a little tiny dent as shown in the pictures. I'd replace the tires; they don't leak or anything, ut they're old and for safety reasons you'd probably want a new set. We've put about 100 miles on this car since we got it. It always starts right up, dles nice, ll thegaugeswork, he lights work, he seats move smoothly and adjust like they're supposed to— it could be a great daily driver I suppose, ut in my opinion it's just too nice for that. We have five of these, ll different colors, nd will look at reasonable offers from qualified buyers (dealers or individuals). Feel free to call me at 307-290-0012 to discuss the car(s), nd I can certainly put you in touch with my brother in law who has overseen all the work. The cars are located in northern Colorado, nd inspections are not only welcomed but highly encouraged. The car has a very reasonable reserve considering miles, ondition, riginality, nd provenance. It will have a strong, pside investment potential for a new owner. Bid to win, nd thank you for looking! |
