Description of 1979 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 350

Up for sale by the second owner is a super rare. garage kept. 1979 Mercedes 350se sedan. This is an automatic 3 speed trans. 3. 5 liter v8 gas model. The car has ~189. 00 DOCUMENTED miles. I have a large box full of invoices dating back to 1979. Originals owners & maintenance manuals are included! This car underwent a full body restoration in 2001 and has only had 30k miles put on since then; pictures and invoices of the restoration are included. It was repainted in the original color with Genuine Mercedes paint. Total restoration cost was $21. 00. Since the restoration the car some wear. 99% rust free. see details about minor rust spot below. A video of (a walk around view interior/exterior. engine start and drive) Will be added Sunday 12/7. I purchased this car 2 years ago from the original owner. who had this car shipped over from Germany. It is fun. oil is spelled oel. and there are many other things in German. Note it does have a US speedometer that measures in MPH. The 350se was never sold in the US. Notice the classy European bumpers. and headlights as opposed to the US models. It does not have pesky emissions parts that came with US market models. resulting is much better fuel economy. It is part of the S-class line and shares the same body as other w116 models found in the United States such as the 450sel. This 3. 5 liter is MORE POWERFUL than the 4. 5 liter that came in US models. This higher revving engine is very quick/enjoys speeds over 50mph. Parts? No worries. this car shares 90%+ of its parts with the similar US models; parts are readily available. This quite possibly may be the only 350se with this configuration in the US that is still on the road. EVERYTHING on this car is fully functional. with the exception of the a/c controls. The controls are stuck on defrost. I have a new. working set of controls however they have not yet been installed. Note. the sun roof works 100%. it was refurbished during the extensive restoration with all new parts (belt. motor etc). The odometer works 100% (most classic Mercedes odometers are stuck). During the restoration the stock speakers were replaced with Pioneer speakers that are the same size as factory and in the factory location. A Pioneer CD player replaced the stock radio. I have put less than 2000 miles on the car since I have owned it. primarily weekend use and occasional daily-driven. Here is a list of the more recent maintenance/restoration work since I have had the car. RECEIPTS FOR EVERYTHING LISTED BELOW (and much more) ARE INCLUDED. Less than 200 miles:4 brand new tiresbrand new exhaust from the headers backnew batterynew rear sway bar end linksLess than 600 miles:Brand new Bosch Starter (replaced the original)Brand new Bosch AlternatorLess than 1200 miles:Fuel delivery system rebuilt. Flushed fuel pump. new fuel filter. all new hoses from the tank to the metal lines. New fuel strainer at the base of the tank. Cleaned Air-idle valveRebuilt Idle fuel controllerLess than 1500 miles:air filterall new vacuum lines. air hosesNew Plugs. Wires. Cap & RotorLess than 30. 00 milestiming chain. guides. rails. steering boxKnown Issues:As previously mentioned the a/c control panel is stuck on defrost. I have a working replacement that has not yet been installed. 99% rust free but there is rust on the rear passenger trunk well that should be treated. It is not structural. (pictured)The front windshield needs a new seal. The car is not driven in the rain and it is garaged so this has not been a priority. I put painters tape over it when washing the car. The drivers seat has significant wear in the cloth part of the bottom cushion. This does not create a problem. simply cosmetic. (pictured)There is a crack in the paint near the rear drivers side taillight (pictured)This is a fine example of a rare car. It has been a joy owning this car and I hope the next owner finds as much joy in it as I have. Please feel free to ask questions or request more photos. VIDEO WILL BE ADDED TOMORROW (Sunday 12/7)**** Buyer is responsible to arrange shipping. I have had cars shipped to me. prices generally range from $450-$900 depending on where you are located. If you ask me if I think you should drive it half way across the county. my reply is that I would drive NO 30+ year old car across the country.
