This 1984 Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen 240GD comes to the states from service in the European military. It was legally and properly imported by Mastodon 4x4 or Wheat Ridge, olorado. Mastodon 4x4 is the premier ex-mod Gelandewagen dealer and outfitter here stateside. This particular vehicle build number G6 received their M2 restoration and was the company's flagship vehicle that they debuted at Overland Expo West 2015. Overland Expo (West and East) are the SEMA of overland and off road vehicles.Any basic Internet image search of "Mastodon 4x4" or "Mastodon 4x4 Overland Expo" will bring up pictures of this vehicle. From this vehicles domestic birth in Colorado and debut at Overland Expo it made its way to Florida by way of Tennessee.
This Gelandewagen represents the simple yet tough as nails precision engineering you would expect of a Mercedes-Benz built for military service combined with the top of the line build package of Mastodon 4x4. Since its inception the Gelandewagen has been a staple overland/off-road vehicle in the global market, ut until recently fine examples like this diesel soft top Gelandewagen were not available here domestically. No expense was spared in the reconditioning and upgrading of this rare 240GD two door, hort wheel base convertible.
- New Diesel Injectors- Two Red Top Optima Batteries- Front Runner Front Winch Bumper with Grille and Headlight Guards- Smittybilt XRC 9500 pound winch synthetic rope and billet fairlead.- G Wagon Accessories Rear bumper with shackle mounts.- New Headlights, ail lights, urn signal lamps, nd side markers- Brand New Custom Soft top which both sides and the rear are made to roll up "safari style". This top is extremely easy to work and all of the frame system is new as well. (easier than a jeep top by far).- New Mercedes White Paint Job with satin black hood insert to reduce glare. All of the body work was done properly to prevent the use of body filler which obviously doesn't look as good and is the cheaper way out. - The trim pieces on sides are new as well well as almost of the fasteners on the truck.- Five 16" Hutchinson Military Grade Wheels with New Goodyear MTR Kevlar Tires. - New Waterproof and rear seating surfaces.- The interior of the tub was spray lined before the seats and other interior components were reinstalled. This makes for a durable, ong lasting interior that is very easy clean after a trail ride or an afternoon at the beach.- The driver's side rear seat also has a large storage compartment inside of it.- New stereo with USB andauxiliary inputs. New Marine Grade speakers have been installed in each corner.- New Door Panels (passenger side window actuator has been sticking, s hasn't bothered me as the windows are always down and soft top panels rolled up)- 4 Speed Manual Transmission- I have been averaging about 30mpg as I have been driving this thing everyday!- The odometer shows approximately 91000km (message for exact reading as I still drive the vehicle) currently which converts to just over 56,000 miles so this is a very low mileage vehicle for it's age.- All of the gauges, ead lights, rake and reverse lights, nd turn signals work as they should.- Manual Locking Differentials Front and Rear- Fully Serviced front to back
