Hello EBay users!Up for sale is my gorgeous 1973 280SE 4.5 Mercedes-Benz. This is the nicest one you will see on eBay, "no excuses" car. The previous owner had it for seventeen years. If you know your Mercedes you are aware there are very few 1973 w108 cars as production ceased in November of 1972 which is when this car was built. It is one of the last of its run. This car has been entered in many car shows and always draws a crowd of admirers. The paint is original and has been very well kept up. The chrome is in phenomenal shape. Especially the trim around the windows, t does not have that haze that so many of these Mercedes tend to develop with age. The suspension is a delight. The tires have a lot of tread left but are a few years old and should be replaced in the next couple of years. This car does not have the interstellar mileage and hard use so many of these sedans have had to endure. All power accessories function as they should, he air is ice cold (I'm in Arizona and AC is important) and the radio functions beautifully. Even the front / rear fader for the radio functions perfectly. The entire interior is full leather from GAHH and the smell inside is indescribably wonderful, he same as a new couch or a baseball glove. The interior has been featured in The Star magazine for the Mercedes club of America. It is very obvious this car has never been smoked in.The wood trim on the dash is in glorious condition and does NOT have that cracked, razed "Death Valley" appearance so many of these cars develop with age. The dashboard itself has not been capped and looks phenomenal. The door, indow, indshield, nd trunk seals are all in wonderful condition. The trunk mat doesn't even have cracks! The ride quality is splendid and the car is equipped with the factory limited slip differential, very desirable item. The engine starts, nd runs as it should staying at its proper operating temperature even on 100 degree days. The blower for the AC is very strong. If you want a comfortable classic Mercedes S class with a powerful V8 in original condition without the horrendous expense of a 6.3 (they cost a fortune to maintain) then this is the car for you. For those who know, his car has Bosch D-Jet fuel injection from the factory, t is far easier and less expensive to service than the fuel injection on later model S classes. There are only two jobs that need to be done on this car as far as I know right now. The rheostat (dimmer) for the dashboard instrument cluster is non functional and needs to be replaced or repaired which does require removal of the instrument cluster. I do not go out at night so I have simply put this task off. Second, t some point in the next few years the rear subframe mounts should be replaced but they are fine for now. The parts will be included with the car along with a box of other miscellaneous spares. If you have any questions please contact me and I will reply as soon as I can. Buyer is responsible for arranging and paying for shipping. I encourage you to ship this car to its final destination because though it is in fantastic original condition it IS a forty two year old car and I have never taken it on a long road trip. Because of its low mileage I have only taken regular trips around town, nd on the freeway occasionally so the car can stretch its legs. I have made every effort to describe the car to the best of my ability and believe the photos speak for themselves regarding the extraordinary condition this car is in. I am offering this beauty at no reserve and payment is due within seven days of auction end. I will accept a cashiers check, r cash in person. Deposit is due within 24 hours of auction end through PayPal. Sales to US only, O trades.
