This fantastic 280SEL 4.5 was originally owned by P Richard Bauer a New York investment banker. After purchasing the car in New York, ecords suggest it was moved to his vacation home in Colorado soon after, here it was used sparingly, o it remained remarkably rust free. Mr Bauer owned the car and kept it in Colorado using it sparing, ccumulating only 134685 miles. After his passing in 2011, he vehicle was sold to Rufus Ward of Salem NH. Mr Ward invested in a mild restoration of the vehicle tuning the engine, pdating injection components, ligning the front end, uffing the paint, eplacing all the rubber door seals, indow rubber and trunk seal and replacing bright trim and moldings with new Mercedes items. The car was used in the good weather adding 4,000 miles in 3 years. I purchased the car a year ago, t that time it was my third classic Mercedes. I have not used it nearly as much as I had planned. Since I have driven it less than 500 miles in a year, nd I don't get to use it enough, have decided it is time to let someone else enjoy this great car. I am an engineer and I love to tinker and fix things, o it has been my weekend and evening project car. In the past year, have done the following:- new Bilstien shocks on all 4 corners- replace the rear hydrocompensator (someone had replaced it with the spring)- new exhaust manifold seal to downpipe- treated leather seats, leaned carpets, nd detailed interior- replaced plastic washer tank and hoses, epaired windshield washer system- detailed engine and painted engine components- charged A/C, hanged cabin air filters- new engine hoses and fuel system hoses from tank to engine. - Cleaned fuel tank, ew gas cap seal and new fuel filters- new wiper blades, hanged transmission fluid, nd rear end lube- repair glove box and rear reading lights- changed antifreeze with Mercedes coolant- flushed brake system with new Mercedes brake fluid- changed oil and air filter, une engine including valve cover gaskets and oil pan gasket - cleaning and painted the light surface corrosion in the trunk and underneath with POR- new rubber drain plugs in trunk area
