Description of 1965 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class

MERCEDES 230sl - 1966 - body shell from LA California -
Very good body and chassis purchased from LA California years ago - Appears that front fenders and nose panel were replaced at one time and finishing work never completed . Car was Silver - the red
area are spotting putty - I have sanded a few of these areas down and did not really see any reason for it except to cover up fine scratches - Which is what it is intended for ! When I purchased this body it came with the 280se/sl engine - long block installed with a 4 speed manual transmission and drive shaft .
Solid frame - undamaged - front sheet metal in very good condition - appears to have been replaced at some time - rear fenders very good
although I did find some filler in the wheel arches - Trunk floor is solid - with only some surface rust and red primer paint . Rear tail panel is
in very good condition - no issues no filler . All floors are in good condition except for the drivers front floor which has a hole in it .
This can be repaired with a left front replacement floor that we sell for $100 . As you can see this car was stripped down to reconstruct
and then the past owner gave up on it . I purchased this a view years back along with 3 other 230sl's - a 250sl and 4 280sl's . I have since sold off all of the car, ith the last 4 being sold in the last 4 months - 3 of them of ebay . I kept this 230sl rolling body for myself with the thought that I would finish it
and keep it . But I have been selling off most of my MERCEDES and still have at least 4 others I intended to work on although as years have passed
I realize that doing all the cars will never happen so out they go . I have listed what is included with this car as follows :
Rolling chassis with 2 bare doors - the right door is damaged so I will include an excellent shell in it place . The hood is in very good condition
only has the spot putty still on it so needs to be sanded down before painting . BTW of course the whole caw will need to be sanded down to finish !
The trunk lid has some dings . The front hood will be mounted with the hinges - The rear trunk lid only has 1 hinge ( I do not have any more in stock as my vast inventory of 113 parts has been shrinking due to the demand ! The car comes with the front and rear suspension - A 280se/sl long block engine
including the fuel injection pump - fuel lines and intake manifold as shown in the pictures . I was told when I got the car that it was a good engine and transmission - since it has been sitting for years I would expect that it should be checked out - It is not complete . Car comes with the steering box - steering column - They are currently not connected . Interior will include 2 core seat bottoms and seat backs - they are not complete but are good cores .
Instruments included are the tachometer - speedometer and center instrument cluster . The tach and speedo work - The center instruments - oil temp and fuel - I believe are all in good order - the only issue is the glass is broken . The upper dash panels and lower dash panels are included - glove box complete is not shown but included - no key . Windshield chrome is included -- I have a bran new windshield I purchased for this car which will be
included with the buy now price -- I will have a list of items after in this description of parts that will ONLY be included at the buy now or if the bidding exceeds the buy now - Many of these parts are brand new ones I purchased to restore this car . The hardtop on the car is not included but you will get a
black hardtop that has good glass etc but does have some repairable lower rust issues . Wheels are the later 280sl wheels - Tires are usable as is but of course you would replace them ( I also have 4 new tires in stock ) Brakes are on all 4 corners - Good tail lights are included and shown - not broken and are 100% original - Come with an excellent OEM factory front bumper - not a cheap china one ! Grill shell and wings are 100% OEM orginals in
overall good condition - shell may have some flaws - Grille star assembly is included and is a reproduction - fine for a driver car . Not shown but included will be the soft top cover with chrome - THERE IS NO SOFT TOP FRAME INCLUDED in this auction . Not shown but also included
will be a wire harness - dash light switch - center wood consul - some dash top wood needing refinishing -alternator - water pump -fan
fuel filter - air intake with chrome vent - windshield chrome - heater core and some control parts - some side chrome on the doors and fenders
rear trunk chrome - trunk lock - no key - might have a good exhaust we could toss in - can toss in some missing parts for the seats - tracks
I will also toss in some rear wood behind the seats for patterns - plus side inside panels - some door panels - a starter for the engine
battery tray - air cleaner - windshield wipers . I am in the parts business and the value of all the parts with this car is way way more than what I
letting it go out the door for . This is a great buy at this price for just the rolling chassis ! I had a 280sl rolling chassis last year that was no where near as good as this one and I had an offer on ebay of $15,000 for it last year and turned it down ! As you may know the 230sl 250s and the 280sl are
increasing in value . I also specialize in the 190sl ( I have owned 170+ of them ! ) and have tons of parts left for them as well . I can truly say that the 230sl 250sl and 280sl are way better cars than the 190sl's and are next in line to increase even more than the 190sl's .
Any other parts not shown or described as being on the car may or may not be included based on the bids !!! The following parts will
be included at the BUY NOW PRICE - but no if this sells for lower than that price .
1. New European Headlight glass 2x
2. New windshield
3. New door seals and other rubber worth well over $600 !
4. I think I have some like new interior carpeting I can toss in as well .
There are other parts I might also toss in as well with the buy now - and parts I might also toss in if the bed does not reach the
reserve !
