The 1971 280SE 3.5 is the last hand - built production automobile to come from Mercedes. The W 111's are renowned as one of Mercedes Benz's most elegant designs, nd the 1971 280SE 3.5 is the epitome of class, ower, nd performance of that era. Bosch fuel injection was a first in the 280 SE's and the car runs beautifully at highway speeds.
The Coupe' has lagged the cabriolet in value but is now climbing rapidly. At the recent auctions in Monterey/Pebble Beach examples of the coupe' sold for $125,000, 145,000 and $195,000 respectively.
