Description of 1980 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series |
1980 Mercedes Benz 300SD diesel Virginia inspection good through 8/16 This 1980 Mercedes 300SD spent most of its life in California before being purchased in 2012 by a bio diesel company in Portland, aine. The vehicle was used only in the summer as a type of flagship advertising for the company, ut then sat undriven for two years before I purchased it in 2014. With a new battery and some brake work I drove it 14 hours straight to Virginia! The beautiful, are English Red paint turns heads, ut could use some touching up. The California sun has certainly faded it unevenly, nd the trunk has little to no clear coat left on it. Two dents (see photos) are very minor. Upgraded wheel package (car special ordered from Germany) with chrome wheels and gold Mercedes center cap highlight the already attractive vehicle. Interior is stunning white MBTex in great condition. The driver's and passenger's seats were both reupholstered by the previous owner. The rear seats are plush and extremely comfortable, ut the padding could use replacement. Included in the sale are custom lambskin floor mats for passenger and rear seats. PO paid over $1000 for these alone. Upgraded Blaupunkt Brisbane 230 BlueTooth stereo with AUX input/charging capabilities. Also takes SSD cards and can hold hours of music. Speakers were upgraded by previous owner. 177,250 low miles for a diesel! Mechanically the vehicle is sound. Starts and runs strong, urbo works great, ecently driven on 10+ hour road trip with no issues. Easily gets up to 75 mph and is still quiet in the cabin. Recent work in the last 3,000 miles includes: Inspected through 8/16 Rear brakes--discs and pads Two new front tires Ignition rebuilt, wo brand new keys cut by Mercedes headquarters per MB security policy New battery Alternator removed and cleaned Alternator pulley removed and cleaned Alternator belt New wiper blades Pre-glow relay replaced New Blaupunkt Brisbane 230 stereo--MP3 player, ux input, SB input (charges), luetooth Fuel tank completely removed and restored Valve cover gasket Fuel filter and pre-filter Battery hold down replaced Needs improvement: -rear window regulators not functioning -AC not working, utomatic climate control servo unit presumably seized (common in the W116 chassis) -cruise control not working -cluster lights work intermittently -previously mentioned dents (see photos) This car is a large, afe vehicle for any driver. It is mechanically sound and will not leave you stranded--these Mercedes diesels go forever! |
