Description of 1958 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

You are bidding on an incredibly solid 1958 220S. I worked for Mercedes Benz in my younger days and have collected Mercedes 50s and 60s cars for 30 years. I was holding on to this last one to do a restoration, ut due to my age and my health and my wife's nagging, have to let it go. I drove this car into my building 13 years ago where I stored it on one of my lifts in my dry building where I work on my cars. Every handle, nob, piece of stainless trim, tc. is accounted for. This car is complete. This car has all the right stuff including fog lamps Blaupunkt radio, tc.This car has no bad rust issues. See the photos of the floor and frame pieces. Anywhere on the underneath of this car can be hit with a hammer. The rockers do have pitting in the paint and minor surface pock marks. Obviously, he car needs a complete paint job, ut all the body panels are extremely solid. Please see the photos of the door edges, s well, s this proves to be an excellent candidate for restoration. I was lucky to get this model equipped with the Westabo slide back canvas roof that is mechanically in great condition. The inside will require headliner work as thee are stains, tc. I tried my best to show the good lines in the body and clean solid trunk floor. Please note scratch in front left fender leading back to driver door. There is also a small soft dent about 4 in in diameter in the edge of the roof above the pillar separating the driver and rear passenger door. Please see photos of this soft dent. Stainless steel trim all appears to be in extremely good condition. Bumpers are solid and the chrome, s in most aged Mercedes, s poor. As I mentioned, he car has been stored in my building for 13 yrs. I bought it from a GM executive, rought it home, nd drove it into my building. It has been there ever since. The motor has been oiled, ubed, nd turned over periodically in order to ensure no sticking valves or damage to the cylinders. The carburetors have been cleaned and reinstalled on the vehicle. Again, lease see pictures. Upholstery and door panels are complete but are showing color fade, nd the seat's material has lost its flexibility. The left rear tail light lens has a crack in it. I can provide a replacement to the winning bidder if you remind me. I know I can't control it, ut I hope someone local purchases the car because I would be willing to assist with my knowledge and cache of hoarded parts to assist bringing the car back to its original grand lustre. Transmission, rive shaft, nd differential are complete and in working order. Brake system is complete but would need to be gone through completely. This is a timeless, lassic body that can be mistaken for no other car in the world. Husbands, lease make sure you have your wife's permission in order to avoid an awkward conversation down the line about how you can't complete the purchase. Bid to own with confidence - I have 100% positive feedback. No clowns. Car may be viewed by appointment. Clear Pennsylvania title in hand.
