Vin # 11102312033653 The Mercedes W111 220SE convertible premiered at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1961. It was almost identical to the earlier released coupe version. Featuring a 2.2 liter inline six cylinder engine, eather interior and a soft-top roof folded into a recess behind the rear seat it was one of the "top of the line" convertibles of its time. --- ---
All of the chrome shows fantastic. Tires are near new. --- It looks like the leather upholstery is still the factory one and is overall in very nice shape. The carpets have been replaced. A new soft-top was put on some time ago and still looks great. The wood is really good looking. Only a few spider cracks in the clear coat paint right above the instrument cluster are visible. Otherwise it is near flawless. The mileage indicator in the odometer is stuck at 28,135 and we must assume it has gone over the mechanical limit once. The correct Becker Mexico Tr radio and VDO clock are in place. --- -- The engine compartment looks very clean with all of the components in the correct place. It seems that the engine has been rebuilt and detailed some time ago since it runs very smooth with no signs of any smoke at all. Undercarriage and trunk floor are looking unmolested and in original condition. According to the Mercedes data card the engine and paint numbers are correct and matching. We had the car inspected by a local mechanic and everything checked out fine.
