Actual VIN# is WDB6023271082643, but ebay does not recognize the European vin, so I was forced to enter '111111...' in the VIN field in the ad form.
I just imported this truck from Europe (Germany by way of England) and possess the German paperwork/ title/ Registration but do not have the US title or registration yet, s I brought it in and am not going to keep or use it myself ---- and a title costs about $500 here in Georgia. I do have all legal import paperwork, nd have DOT/EPA/NHTSA clearance/ approval and paperwork to title in all sates, xcept perhaps for California where I hear things have gotten difficult lately with European grey market imports...
This truck is a 1987 Mercedes '307D' - It is the 'father' of the Mercedes Sprinter van. It has 214,620KM on it, hich translates to just over 130,000 original miles.
Very reliable and relatively low miles make this a good option for your landscape or delivery business, r put a camper in the back and have a weird/cool European 'Motorhome'. This truck is the generation directly preceding the famous Sprinter series of vehicles put out by Mercedes/Daimler/Dodge. Very simple, eliable and slow. Could use cosmetic work, but will serve its purpose as a truck beautifully.
Engine starts right up first try, very time, ven now in sub-freezing weather. Truck had passed all its German safety inspections and was in regular use when I bought it a few months ago. I have taken it out for a few drives on the freeway, and can report that it runs great, hifts great, tops great, nd is VERY slow. Has, believe, he Mercedes OM616 engine - (same as used in the US Mercedes 240D sedan/ wagon, believe)? 4 cylinder, .4, diesel with no turbocharger. Shifts fine up through all the gears, but will struggle to get up to 60 , and a light comes on the speedometer warning you over about 50MPH, which is what this truck was supposed to be limited to in use in Europe (80KMH) -- But will make it up to about 65 miles per hour with enough room and patience. Best used around-town when the ultimate speed is not an issue.
At speed, the truck did wander a bi, but I have not even checked tire pressure yet, nd it seemed 'normal' for an older truck of this type. I would not hesitate to drive this truck anywhere in the USA given enough time to accommodate its spee, but it could be fun - I think you could even stretch across the front seats and sleep if you had to. In good weather you could camp in the back, oo.
More on the positive side, verything seems to work - windshield wipers, ll lights, orn, auges/ instruments, lock and heater. Cool roof-mounted 'warning/ spinning light' does not come on with the switch however. I should also note that the truck is not fitted with seat belts, but all anchors are there to mount them if you wish.
All 4 corners of the flatbed have square 'pockets' to receive legs for a canopy if you wanted the load bed to be easily covered. It must have had one in the past. Actual truck bed is steel, nd flat, and very usable - Was used for a stone mason in Germany before I bought the truck, nd it is rated at a 3 ton (3000KG) load -
Truck was originally mustard - yellow and still is inside the cab. Outside is painted in a bad white paint job. Paint faded and poor quality. There is some rust through in a few spots in the cab. Most disappointing to me is that the stake-bed sides do not drop down all around (I was planning on them doing that so I could load this with my forklift from any side) and only the tailgate drops down.
I am into this much more than I plan to sell it for now, but I need the money for my business, and I am a bit disappointed about condition from what was described to me and what is actually here, nd the fact that the sides of the truck bed do not all flip down. I would be happy with the truck otherwis, nd know it will be very reliable and would be great to use around town for deliveries/ etc. Will also get very good mileage for a full-size multi-ton load capacity truck; figure on 25-35MPG!
Let me know what else I can tell you ---- If you want to bid on thi, I would like you to know I require a $500 at the conclusion of the auction, nd the balance is due within 5 days maximum by cash, ank check, ir, tc. If you have any questions, r want to talk about price please call me at 912-414-8993.
Truck does get a lot of attention, would be great for a small business or even for home use if you need a flatbed truck --- Put your name on the side and have free advertising (like the last guy, the stone mason in Germany) ---
Thank you for reading all of this and let me know if you have any questions or want pictures of anything else ----
