Finished in a gorgeous Ivory with very clean beige leather interior, this magnificent motorcar has been beautifully maintained and driven just 46,402 miles from new. Accompanying this investment-grade 380SL is its original owner's manual, maintenance booklet, convertible top care book, service - see the pictures! This Convertible is for the most demanding collector/investor enthusiast who appreciates low miles and supreme condition. Cars of this magnitude have proven to be among the most resilient and rewarding investments in recent years with the Historic Automobile Group Index (HAGI) jumping 39% in 2013 and posting gains of 395-percent over the last 10-years. Ready to make an investment you can actually enjoy? This car known by its internal designation R107 by the factory and by enthusiasts alike was a clean sheet design for the new decade yet one that brilliantly captured the relaxed easygoing nature that made the 230/250/280SL series so endearing. Yes the SL was a sports car in that it had two seats handsome sporty lines and a folding convertible top – yet it was also a capable GT car that could be driven daily thanks to its roomy trunk comfortable seating and automatic transmission. It could be pushed along sweeping back roads or motored across country in all sorts of weather with the factory issued hardtop in place. The R107 was a true year round sporting car. During the development period for the R107 Mercedes-Benz was feverishly working to achieve exceptional quality and unprecedented levels of safety with its cars. As a result the SL was one of the first cars of the “golden era” for Mercedes-Benz quality and longevity. The 107 SL proved to be a runaway success for Mercedes thanks to the thoughtful engineering tank-like build quality and excellent performance from the V8 and inline-six engines. Production of the R107 lasted from 1971 through 1989 making it the longest production run of any Mercedes-Benz passenger car to date. Only the Galandewagen off-roader remained in production longer than the R107. With just 46,402 from new this remarkable 1985 380SL is one of the nicest on the market right now. As one would expect from such a low mile example the body panels trim and bumpers are arrow straight. All fittings finishes and details are correct from top to bottom on this stunning automobile. Inside the cabin the tan leather – a welcome optional upgrade from the standard MB Tex – is in great shape as is all of the carpet and delicate wood trim. A matching factory hardtop and a dark brown German canvas soft top are included. Under the hood is found the 3.8-liter aluminum V8 engine with correct factory finishes hardware and markings. The R107 series has recently begun to catch the attention of collectors thanks to the timeless Bruno Sacco-penned styling as well as their tough and hardwearing nature. These robust cars are very satisfying to drive and offer a relaxed and enjoyable experience from behind the wheel. Its next keeper can revel in the same experience the original owner did driving it fresh from the showroom some 31 years ago. It retains its original color combination of light Ivory over 2 tone beige interior. The paint appears to be original and show excellent throughout, as is the interior. It is powered by its proven 3.8 liter V8 engine with the automatic transmission. It features leather seats, climate control, power windows, factory hard top, soft convertible top, original wheels, power steering, power brakes, Jack, spare, tools and manual. All maintenance done at David Motors in Davie, FL. All receipts. Car Fax report available on request. I just bought a 1985 Porsche 911 and need to make room. The pictures tell the story. Now for the not so good news, there is a small scratch on the back panel, which has been painted over, and a cut in the vinyl on the convertible cover (not the convertible top – this is new). It was from the prior owner. Also, early in its years had a rear end collision with the rubber part of the rear bumper being replace. The rear bumper is the original. See pictures. This fine auto has been garaged kept all its life. Since I've owned it, it has not seen rain. South Florida 3106993133 for more info.
