Mockingbird Lane Dallas. Texas. 75235Dave at 214-213-7072 or Maris at 214-616-2317 Texas Classic Cars is proud to present this stunning 1956 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Convertible. This car is a long-time Dallas. Texas owned vehicle which the previous owner acquired in 1974. We have receipts and documentation dating back 42 years along with the original owner's manual and a few documents in German. This car has had a host of restoration work performed over the years. Most recent. in 2013 the car was gone through mechanically with over $18. 00 spent to bring the car to road-worthy condition after a 15+ year storage. The braking system was gone through front to back. The carburetor was rebuilt and the engine tuned up. The front end was attended to with tie rods replaced. a fresh alignment and more. The car drives beautifully. The body was professionally refinished in the cars correct Fire Engine red paint during the mid 1990s. We have receipts for this as well. The body panels align correctly and the car shows very well. We have receipts for all of the brightwork receiving fresh chrome plating during the 90s. showing excellent today. The paint and body are still in excellent condition. This car has been kept stored indoors. last driven regularly in the mid 1990s. We went through this car and have enjoyed cruising in it. Be sure to visit the museum if you find yourself in Dallas. Texas. We know that this Mercedes has been in the Dallas. Texas area at least since the early 1970's. The paint and body were done several years ago and shows well to this day. The finish is smooth and the body is extremely straight. The red color has an excellent shine throughout. The 13-inch wheels have been fitted with updated Michelin XH4 Radial tires all the way around. Open the doors to 1956. The interior is just beautiful. The leather seating shows well for both driver & passenger. This is very old leather that is simply beautiful. with a supple feel and slight patina to it. We know that when the car last changed hands in 1974. this was the leather in the car. The dash displays the original instrumentation. clock. and vintage Blaupunkt radio. The gauges are functional with exception of the clock. The radio is not functioning. but can be repaired. The steering wheel is gorgeous. complimented by the working horn rim & integrated turn signals. Interestingly. the optional dash clock became standard equipment in the 1956 model year. The chassis stamping and identification plate is intact and legible. The vin plate is also intact and legible. The firewall plates are both intact and legible. The body stamping is intact and legible. Under the hood is the correct 1. 9 liter 4-cylinder engine. The 4-cylinder block is actually based on the 6-cylinder of the 300SL. This powerplant was originally equipped with dual Solex carburetors and was converted a long time ago to help with reliability. The dual Solex carburetors were known to be finicky at best. We do not have the original carburetors. The engine is believe to be the original to the car per the current owner. The engine identification stamping is intact. however the affixed metal plate is no longer on the block. We know this engine powered the car in the early 1970s to current. The firewall. inner fenders and core support are solid and original. The radiator has been replaced previously or restored. The German canvas top was previously replaced and shows quite well. easily retracted and raised. The side window glass is in very good condition. left and right. The windows roll up and down with ease. The door panels are in good condition. The door undersides are in excellent condition. The undercarriage also displays well. displayed in our photographs below. showing previous undercoating. The trunk pan and spare wells look to be in great shape. with no rubber mat. We do have a spare tire & wheel. Enjoy our remaining photos and again feel free to contact Dave at 214-213-7072 or Maris at 214-616-2317 with any questions.
