Description of 1928 Mercedes-Benz SSK Replica

This Automobile is a Gazelle Kit Reproduction of a 1928 Mercedes SSK. The present owner purchased it 8 years ago and it has been driven very little and has been stored indoors the entire time. The body is in excellent condition, the engine and power train run extremely well and the brake cylinders including the Master cylinder are all new. Detail work is very good and the interior is immaculate. The odometer shows only 571 Miles since it’s construction because this car has been used as a showpiece rather than driven on a regular basis. It is drivable and I would not hesitate to take it on a cross-country trip if desired.

The car comes with the convertible top, convertible top boot and a split tonneau cover with a convenient zipper to allow the user to drive the car without removing the entire cover, then snap it back in place and zip it up to protect the cockpit. Not shown but also included are the side-screens for use in inclement weather. The spare tire and cover is included. Please examine the photographs for condition.

The SSK was the last car designed by Ferdinand Porsche before he left to found his own company. The SSK was the fastest car made at the time. Only 40 were made and half were sold as race cars. Only 4 or 5 original SSK vehicles exist with the most recent one going for over $7 million. This has led to a large number of replicas constructed to enjoy the style of the SSK. Gazelle is the best of the SSK reproductions. This car gives you the look and style of a multi-million dollar car for a small fraction of the price and likely has seen the bottom of its depreciation value. This cars will provide thousands of miles of open air cruising for many years to come.

The current owner purchased the car from its previous owner 8 year ago, and very little is known of its history prior to that time other than the fact that it was not driven very much. The current owner brought it to a couple of car shows and it had not been driven for about 6 years, though it was titled, registered and insured the entire time. The kit was assembled on a Volkswagen in 1984, with some additions made in 2005, and the entire construction manual and owner’s manual with all diagrams, construction notes and most receipts is included. A picture from the manual showing the Gazelle superimposed over the Volkswagen Bug is included in the photographs.
