Description of 1991 Mercedes-Benz 400-Series |
I have decided to sell one of my toys. I purchased this car almost two years ago in Princeton NJ from a man who was 87 years young. The car had been willed to him by his best friend, an attorney in Florida. He always joked with his friend that he wanted a classy Mercedes but couldn't afford one. Sadly his friend years later passed, leaving a note to him saying "you finally got what you always wanted, treat her well like she has me". After having the car for many years, he decided it was too big for him to handle anymore andwanted to let it go to someone who would appreciate it as much as he and his friend once did. That's where I came into the picture. The car has always been maintained and serviced as well as living in a garage. Never driven in harsh weather conditions, such as snow or rain. When I purchased it I had my mechanic go over the car completely. I had all the belts replaced, the tensioner pulley, water pump, new battery(AC Delco), distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, air filter, wipers, etc. The oil is always changed using synthetic oil. The tires have about 80% or more left to them and are a matching set. Current NJ inspection to boot. This Benz is loaded with all of the toys one would want in 1991. Power sunroof, windows, door locks, climate control AC and Heat which both function properly. Cruise control works, rear window defogger functions as well. I also had an aftermarket antenna installed however when the battery was disconnected, the radio reads CODE now and I do not have that. I can however include an aftermarket used CD player with purchase as I was going to update it anyway. Body is in nice shape, no rust. There has been some paint touch ups over the years as to be expected being 25 and having older drivers but shines beautifully and get thumbs up whenever I drive it. There are a few minor scratches, dings but again to be expected. The interior also has held up well, having seat covers for the first part of its life. Minor wear marks to driver bolster, armrest but nothing that looks ugly. Dash is perfect with no cracks. Hood insulation is missing and the air tube to air filter has tape on it. That is how I purchased the car. After I went for gas the other day I pushed in the trip reset button. After doing this my trip and odometer stopped working and are stuck at the current mileage of 73,xxx. I had my mechanic come to my house and he said that the little gear getting stuck was common on these and could be fixed. I do have my receipts from repairs showing in fact the miles coincide with what is on the car up until this happened. I am just being honest about everything I know, and just would like this car to find a new forever home. I just purchased a 64 Chrysler to play with so I need the garage, and refuse to park this German tank on the street. I am selling this AS- IS with no warranties expressed or implied. If you are local feel free to make arrangements to look over the car and test drive, and or have a mechanic look at it. This is a great car that has plenty of life left in its powerful V8. |
