Description of 1978 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Convertible |
Recently bought this car with intentions to keep it as a collector/investment vehicle but another car has caught my eye. If you are looking for an r107 (350sl,560sl,500sl,380sl), you know the cars are pretty well built mechanically and the #1 thing to look for is rust and accident damage. Gallery Link to tons of pictures: Gallery Here are the reason I bought the car: -NO RUST whatsoever, only corrosion on the car is due to two old paint blisters on the deck-lid, check out the underside pics, not even surface rust on anything. -NO Accident damage ever, body is dead straight with no ding or dents, one series of scratches left of the gas cap (see pictures) - Low miles at ~80k -Never had the chrome fender trim that trap moisture and rot the arches -100% original car including working Becker radio, original spare, top, wheels, etc. -Everything works except the HVAC which was diagnosed by the dealer with all the paperwork on what it needs(common issue on these cars) -Beautiful color combo -Car runs and drives straight down the road perfectlyand feels very solid -Chrome and bright-work is not corroded -All four wheels were just professionally redone in original Mercedes silver. With that being said, the car is very original and untouched which means that the original soft-top will need replacing (~$300 for a German top) and the paint on the rear of the car is finally starting to dull (the front had a high qualityresprayat some point due to fading paint, and now the back is catching up to it). The interior is beautiful, as is the underside, top, dash, gauges, and wheels. When buying any car, especially classic vehicles, the three most important things to me are. 1)original 2)rust free 3)no accidents You can fix anything else, but those three things are very hard to fix. However, the car is not perfect, so please come by and take a look if possible and ask questions. I tried to put all of the information I know about the car in this ad, and the flaws in the pictures, but I would be more than happy to try to help out however I can.
