Description of 1991 Mercedes-Benz 400-Series |
Hi ebayers . I'm Chris in Palm Springs. California. Thanks for checking out my listing. I'm selling a beautiful 1991 Mercedes Benz 420SEL that's truly in remarkable condition for it's age. It has been owned by the same Southern California couple since purchasing it new from the W. I. Simonson MB dealership in Santa Monica. Several months ago. they gave the car to their daughter and son-in-law. who ultimately decided that they really had no use for it. I purchased it from the son-in-law last month. As the (admittedly excessive number of) pics will attest. pride of ownership is clearly evident. I'll let the pics do the talking here because other than an extremely pleasant 100 mile trip home from LA back to the desert. I really don't know much about the car. I purchased it because it had the highest AutoCheck score I've ever seen. You probably just saw this amazing report for yourself right above this description . where similar vehicles range in score from 15 to 36. this Mercedes scores an 86!!! I'm trying to convince my elderly parents to move to the desert from the central coast. so when they came down for Christmas I gave them this beautiful Mercedes as what I thought would be a nice incentive. I figured that instead of wasting money renting expensive Cadillacs every time they fly down here. this beauty could be their special "desert car. " I know they both like S-class sedans from this era because back in the late 80's. Mom actually had a pretty white over saddle 560SEL that she really loved. Well. I was wrong. What I thought would be the coolest gift ever only succeeded in confusing my Dad and annoying my Mom. Dad couldn't fathom why anyone . much less he himself . would actively want to drive a 24 year old car with 175. 00 miles. regardless of the make and model or how well cared for it might be. if they didn't have to. Mom appreciated it for the specialcar that it is. and even reminisced about her white one . but inexplicably she thought that driving it would make her look poor. No. I'm not kidding. After the holidays were over. they politely re-gifted it back to me as a "New Year's present" and left town. So here we are. I wish I had more details to share. but I have zero aptitude for anything mechanical. I can comfortably say this: the car starts the first time. runs quietly. shifts through the gears smoothly. drives down the road in a straight line. and comes to a stop with ease. While taking the pics I also made a video of a quick 3 minute drive down and then back up my street. Not sure if it's worth much. but here's the youtube link: http://youtu. be/9xQEVTbtQgUIn the listing subtitle I mentioned that there were 75 pics here in the listing. but in an effort to show every nook and cranny of this car I've uploaded 200+ pics in a google+ album. If you're seriously considering the car. you should really check out the album. I shot in several light conditions and the paint color seems to change in each different light. Very cool. and very beautiful. Here's the album link: https://plus. google. com/photos/107820882596850516036/albums/6104411856927798321 Here's the bottom line. at least for me: anyone who still pops for a matching set of Michelins after 20+ years gets my benefit of the doubt as to whether they've been properly maintaining the car. Here is an opportunity to acquire a completely rust free. 1-owner California classic Mercedes S-class in great shape for under $4k. This really is a helluva lot of car for the money . I felt like I was effortlessly gliding down the highway in an extremely luxurious bank vault. If you'd like to know more about the car and are close enough to come take it for a spin. don't hesitate to reach out via the ebay system and we'll make it happen. I'd even be willing to take it to any Palm Springs mechanic you choose . on your dime. of course! nbsp; |
