This Unimog was purchased as military surplus from the swiss army along with 44 other Unimogs just like it. They were bought as an investment, this one is one of the last of the 44 and arguably one of the best as far as conditions of the vehicle go. It was originally used as a troop carrier but was no longer needed after the next model was built and replaced it. The truck was retired and used as a tool truck on base. Because of its small amount of use and it being stored in doors it is in incredible condition with only a little over 2,800 miles on it (4561 Km) with everything on it original aside from the new car battery and an ignition kit that we have put on it. The ignition kit allows you to use different spark plugs from the original Bosch plugs that are harder to find and dont last long at all. It has a fresh original army green matte paint on it that was more done as precaution to prevent rusting. The wood in the bed of the truck has been sanded down and given a fresh waterproof stain. But other than that the truck is completely original, runs and drives amazing. If you are wondering what this truck could be used for or why you would want such a rare vehicle there are a ton of different things that we and others have used them for. Because of its unique portal axels and extremely low gearing it is absolutely incredible off road. We love to use them to go rock crawling in southern Utah where the long wheelbase high clearance from the portal axels and the low gearing just dominates any terrain, often it is able to climb over things that others we are with in Jeeps cant. We have also seen them used as awesome advertising vehicles, anywhere you drive this thing it is turning heads. Some even have bought them just as a collectors vehicle. Whatever the reason is, this truck is incredible and has so many unique aspects about it, the axels, the small and very useful hand throttle for steady cruising speeds, the set of wrenches, shovel, axe, and pick axe that are all stored in the vehicle. And more. You wont find another vehicle like this especially not in this condition. The price is OBO but not able to move much on the price. Honest truth we have a few of these trucks of our own that we have decided to keep and I think this one might be the strongest running Unimog out of all 44.
If you type in hjmagleby on Youtube it will bring you to a bunch of our own unimog videos. Because Ebay doesn't allow anything that isn't a hyper link I cant put the direct link.
