1986 Mercedes 560SEL *NO RESERVE*

This 1986 Mercedes 560SEL, the flagship estate sedan of the 80’s, is offered today wearing its period correct blue paint over gray interior. Used sparingly over the past few years as an around town cruiser, this 560SEL comes with a clear Carfax report indicating no accidents or issues. While in our care, we have replaced all four tires with brand new all seasons, added new starter and changed the engine oil and filter.

The exterior of the vehicle is good. Overall, the paint is able to be brought to a high luster and the clear coat over the majority of the vehicle is in good condition. The brightwork is blemish free and the chrome shines easily. The only rust evident on the vehicle can be found via surface bubbling under the paint but has not broken though. Paint bubbling is evident on the front drivers and passengers wheel arch as well as a small spot evident on the driver’s side rear quarter panel by the gravel guard. There are some surface paint chips on the door jambs from normal use. The clear coat has worn around the gas tank door from refueling spillage over the years. The plastic front and rear bumpers show signs of chipping from light wear. The plastic headlight surrounds are clear and fog free.

Structurally the vehicle is in excellent condition. The underside of the vehicle shows no signs of rust or any structural issues. The factory undercoating is still present over the majority of the undercarriage. The exhaust shows only minimal surface rust and the rocker panels, floors and trunk are all solid and rust free.

The interior is in good condition. Wearing the original grey leather the only interior wear can be found on the driver’s side bolster, bottom cushion and the driver’s side of the arm rest. The passenger and rear seats are in excellent condition. The carpeting shows only minimal staining and is dry. The aftermarket radio is in good working order. The only electrical issue found was a broken front console switch controlling the rear driver’s side window. Overall the wood trim and dash are in good condition.

Mechanically the vehicle is in good condition. The 5.6L V8 gasoline powered engine starts immediately and has benefited from a new starter. The transmission shifts smoothly and acceleration is linear and smooth. The brakes stop the vehicle with authority with no pulling, shuttering or vibrations. A transmission fluid leak was noticed after the vehicle had been standing for a time.

The flagship 560SEL was only in production for 4 years and signified the height of luxury in the mid-1980s. With a fresh set of tires, fluids, starter and completely clean Carfax report (available upon request) this is a rare vehicle in this condition and we are proud to be able to offer this for sale at no reserve.
