Description of 1988 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 560SL |
1988 Mercedes Benz 560SL There is so much to buying a R107. One must consider year, mileage, color combination, and overall condition, coupled with deferred maintenance, can make purchasing that perfect SL a chore. I think I have done all the work for you on this car. First, we have a late model 560! The 88-89's are considered the creme del la creme for 560 aficionados! Next, we have a all original paint car with all VIN stickers in place on both fenders, core support, hood, bumpers, doors and trunk lid. They all match too! no "R-Dot" replacement panels here (SL guys, you know what I'm talking about here!) Paint is all under 4 mils thickness on all the panels, no paintwork here! Absolutely no rust, dings, appreciable scratches, ect. Next, let's talk about the interior. How about perfect? How does that work? This car had plastic on the floor and covers on the seats since it was new! No dash cracks, veneers, bolster wear, ect. Original mats, tool kit, window sticker, hang tags, ect. This car was impeccably maintained at Mercedes Benz over the years with over $32,000 worth of fluid flushes and injector cleanings at the stealership over the past 29 years! Wild! Needless to say everything works on the car, from the A/C to the cruise control. Car runs great, handles great, no issues. All original glass. Both tops are perfect. You get the useless aluminum hard top carrier as well. Yep, you can eat off that engine bay, I spent many hours detailing that engine bay, keeps me away from the wife. The big ticket maintenance items were already replaced. This means motor mounts, subframe mounts, the chain and the rails. Do not waste your money on a 560 that has not had this very expensive list of services done. If you do, add $4,000 to your purchase price, because I have never met a SL that does not need these items addressed, regardless of mileage. This car has never seen a Yankee winter. Let's talk about service history! Would you marry a woman you met earlier the same day? She may be pretty, you know nothing's no about her! Not a smart plan. That is kind of like buying a R107 without history. It is just a bad idea that might not turn out well! This car has every oil change and service accounted for. You also get the window sticker on this car, the maintenance log, ect. In short, if you want a Mickey Mouse car, look somewhere else. If you want this car for $15,000...go fish. I've been around these cars all my life, this is a choice piece. No, I can't finance you, I will only trade for money, not your spouse. I won't take PayPal for anything but a deposit. Cash or wire transfer only. No cashiers checks from Nigeria. Although I'm happy to ship world wide. Th build date is 10/87 so yes, you tariff avoiders can export this car tariff free pretty soon! Clean and clear title. CARFAX and Autocheck are perfect. Why am I selling? I owned the thing for 5-6 years and drove it maybe 1000 miles or less. I could use the funds to buy other toys I don't need. I can assist with shipping. That means I am in the logistics business. No flakes, scammers, gypsies, or story tellers. Call me at any reasonable hour. By reasonable hour...I mean 10AM to 11PM. I'm addicted to watching YouTube videos until very late. I'm usually up and in the office by 10AM. I'd be happy to talk to you about the car during the day. I own the place and really don't mind you harassing my secretary, seriously. She is usually busy sorting out payment on some useless item I "needed" to buy online the night before. (773) 621-4087. |
