Contact | Website | Ebay Feedback TheMercedes-Benz M100 enginewas introduced in the 1963Mercedes-Benz 600with 6.3 litres, and later also used in theMercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3from 1968 onwards, and even larger, in the 1970sMercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9. It featured a cast ironV8with a single overhead camshaft operatingsodium-filledvalves(as are found in piston-driven aircraft) against hardened valve seats on each aluminium alloy cylinder head. Each hand-built unit was bench-tested for 265 minutes, 40 of which were under full load. A mechanicalfuel injectionsystem designed and built in-house by Daimler-Benz was used until 1972, whereas the Bosch D-Jetronicelectronic fuel injection was used from 1973. Several years later came a switch to K-Jetronic. As in all Mercedes-Benz automobile engines, the crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons wereforgedinstead ofcast. The long term and possibly original owner was posted in Europe with NATO, and used his expertise to buy parts direct from Daimler Benz AG. Through the years, the car was operated in Canada/Washington, and subsequently purchased by us here in California. We usually offer rust free California cars. However due to the time spent in Europe and Canada, this is not our typical offering. During our ownership, we contacted a very knowledgeable Mercedes-Benz Factory trained technician to assess and start the car. Here are his operations and observations: Operations:-Suspension blocks installed to roll car-Fuel tank cleaned / fuel feedpump serviced-Essential engine fluids checked - ok to start-Serviced ignition points - full spark-Blasted and gapped spark plugs-Color and condition of plugs previous running okay-Cranking compression good-Started engine-Engine ran on its own-Several dead injectors-Transmission pumped up / Forward + Reverse Observations:-Car is desirable European model-- 9:1 compression-High delivery fuel injection pump-More engine torque / power than USA model-Very nice Euro velour interior-240 km/h speedo-Odometer is showing 91,975 km-Nice chrome-Lots of service history receipts will be made available to new owner totaling $21,000 (see photos)-Original owners/service Manuals (see photos) Typical Euro car rust - still savable-Needs further fuel service to drive-Needs brake service Summary:Agood European spec car that needs a restoration. We have resources available here in California with good sheet metal necessary here.Great color combination - looks good to start with...!!!
