Excellent driving condition and beautiful. All proceeds go to a 501C# directed by the owner.$550,000.00 15 years ago the current owner looked over it andits documents, including the original sale invoice and acopy of the original Tennessee title in Elvis's name. Afterseeing these documents he had to have the car, eventuallypurchasing it in 2002, when it had done only 55,000 miles. When he acquired it there was some re-commissioningneeded - it was fitted with new air suspension and thepaintwork was buffed to its former glory. The interiorlooks to be in good, original condition and everythingworks as it should. Receipts show over $30,000 spentat a Mercedes specialist. The owner finds the 600 is aninvaluable attraction for raising money for his favouritecharitable causes.Elvis Presley acquired the 600 from the HollywoodMercedes-Benz dealer in 1970 and registered it inTennessee. This was one of his favourite cars and he kept itfor quite a while (six to seven years). A special monogram'TCB' was inscribed on the front doors - TCB means 'Takin'Care of Business'. The car is also fitted with a special 1969Tennessee licence plate that reads 'ELVIS'. It has been saidthat Elvis finally gave this 600 to his best friend JimmyVelvet in 1977. It was one of only seven automobilesregistered in Elvis's name and in January 1971 Elvis andPriscilla used it to drive to the Memphis MemorialAuditorium to accept a '10 outstanding young men of thenation' award. This was presented to him by the US JuniorChamber of Commerce; it was the only award Elvis Presleyreceived in person.Auctions45 years after Elvis Presley's death, his cars that surviveretain a peculiar potency. They are scattered throughoutAmerica in museums, private collections, auction houses, showrooms and in classified ads. It has been noted thatthere are inevitably more Elvis cars out there than he everpurchased. Some owners have gone as far as to paint theircars a rare colour and put Elvis's monogram on the doors inthe hope of passing off their car as one of Elvis's. However,Elvis-owned cars are easy to recognise and they all retaintheir original documentation and photographs - Elvisalways loved to appear with his favourite cars, perhaps forpublicity reasonsPS: The air conditioning blows cold when needed and the heater blows warm in the winter. Please do not ask for donations since this 501C3 has its own organizations that it is committed to. |
