A little bit about the history of this vehicle. Since purchasing this beauty in September, 2016, I have put in a new front windshield ($1,303), rebuilt the power steering pump ($655) and new A/C Compressor ($1,128). The car needs nothing and everything works except the cruise control! I have records going back to 2009, when $2,800 was spent on the vehicle. It had 95,218 miles. Cam cover gasket, front brakes, motor mounts (front), replace drive belts, cooling system service, transmission service, receiver drier for a/c, etc. The original owner died on 3/30/2002 and his wife kept and drove the car. He was very successful businessman and real estate developer in Newport Beach for decades. When she was unable to drive, she gave the car to her 50+ year old son, who rarely drove it. He sold it to the second owner in early 2015 and he spent all of 2015 and part of 2016 painting and restoring the vehicle. He lost his warehouse space and is selling his collection and buying 1-2 very high end ($500,000+) vehicles. I purchased the vehicle from him in September, 2016 and have put about 800 miles on it. In speaking with the original owners son, a stack of records were given to the second owner, but all he gave me were records since 2009. The vehicle was repainted at a cost of $7,500 and had 104,881 miles on it during the one year restoration. Entire restoration was less than 1,000 miles ago. The vehicle was rust free and, according to the body shop owner (whom I recently talked to), is a no hit, no damage vehicle that spent its entire life in California. Paint, chrome, brightwork, are all either OEM or polished to new condition. New tires, wheels, headlamps, corner lights, tail lights are all OEM factory new. The vehicle has about 105,800 on it now. I'm driving it back and forth to the golf course, so it may have a few more miles on it when you purchase it. I bought this in September, 2016 and have put about 800 miles on it. I have two other Mercedes and retired at the end of 2016. I simply don't have the garage space to keep all of my cars! As much as I hate it, I'm selling this beauty. You will never, and I mean never, find another like this. If you are in the market for a Mercedes 560 SEC then this is the car for you. There simply can't be very many 560 SEC's in better condition than this. This is a 1989 model, that shares all of the features with the 1990 and 1991 models, not the older, less desirable models from 1986 to 1988. It is one of the most desirable and hard to find color combination with white exterior and beautiful light gray interior. When the car was purchased it was all in original condition. There was replacement of all headlights, corner lights, taillights with all OEM new parts. While these are very expensive, this was a must due to minor rock chips. All the emblems are brand new. All the stainless steel trim has been professionally polished or replaced with OEM, including all trim around the windows. Tires are brand new Michelin's with new chromed factory wheels. Paint is new and is in perfect shape with no door dings, rock chips, damage, etc. $7,500. Electronics are also perfect and everything works as they are supposed to, except the cruise control. The vehicle was completely serviced so there is no reason why you can't drive this car across the country!! Last winter, I kept this vehicle in a heated climate controlled garage all winter and it did not leak a drop of oil! There were no fluid leaks, oil leaks, absolutely no smoke or funny noises. However, just to make sure, I took the car in to my service mechanic in May, 2017, and asked him to completely go over the vehicle and to find anything that was in need of service or repair. He found that the power steering pump was leaking just a little bit and we had it completely rebuilt. Also, the Air Conditioning wasn't blowing cold, so we put Freon in it. A few days later, it was blowing hot air again and we found that the compressor were going bad, so had it replaced. Last year, I also replaced the front windshield. The resin came out of an old rock chip and once that happens, you can't repair these windshields. So, I've spent over $3,000 on these items making this beauty showroom condition! The car shifts perfectly, drives straight as an arrow. I'm describing this vehicle accurately, but welcome any personal review or test drive. Should you wish, and at your cost, I'll be glad to take the vehicle to a Mercedes Benz dealer and have them provide you with an analysis of this beauty. You will appreciate the value and quality of this rare Mercedes. You could spend over $30,000.00 finding a 560SEC with perhaps 30,000 miles, but I can guarantee you it will not be cleaner or in better condition than this. |
