Description of 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Diesel Long Body |
The Specs: Year: 1987 Options included: 6 CYLINDERS This is my old ride. My father originally got it for me in 2010 from Massachusetts and had it shipped to California. I drove it from California to Boston when I moved up here to go to college, towing most everything I owned. She’s kept me moving for the last two years, but I just got a 2010 Subaru, so it’s time to let her go. She is a dependable girl and would make a great “first car” for anyone. To those who don’t know, the W126 body, when coupled with this engine, makes for a model that stands out among Mercedez enthusiasts. The W126 was one of the longest body styles put out by Mercedes and provides exceptional leg room and trunk space. Way, way more than most modern vehicles. As such, the car makes for a nice cruiser. These engines commonly hold up for well over 400,000 miles. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere. I get better gas mileage in this Mafia staff car than my Subaru, usually between 25 and 30 miles to the gallon. The most appealing thing about this model is its endurance. They’re like the ship Serenity from the show “Firefly.” Be willing to put out a little work and maintenance on them and they’ll last you forever. They’re tough, dependable, safe, and powerful. Not necessarily quick (It’s a long luxury car with a diesel engine. They weren’t intended to play ricky-road-rocket), but it’s got enough power to tow things, despite the sedan-sized body. On top of that, as it’s a diesel engine, I could pop cooking oil into the tank in a pinch and the car will run just fine. As such, it has become a popular model among the Bio-Diesel and Survivalist crowds. I’ll give a quick bullet-list of all the Pros of the car: Due to its age and the cross-country trip, the car does have some issues. So, let’s get the “Cons” section out of the way: No low ballers. No games. You or your agent shows up with cash (or pays by Paypal) and takes the car and title. No cashiers checks, etc. I will not take your check for more than the sales amount and pay your shipper! (have your shipper cash your check!) A full payment is to be made within 10 days, with a deposit of $500 to be paid by Paypal within 24 hours of the auction end. Buyer is 100% responsible for shipping costs. Buyer is 100% responsible for any necessary licensing, registration and/or transfer fees. Bids from buyers with less than 10 recent feedbacks must contact me before bidding or their bids may be cancelled.
