Description of 1991 Mercedes-Benz S-Class |
The Mercedes Benz 350SD was produced for 1 year only. 1991. Only 2066 were produced Nice 350 SD. This is the 6 cyl turbo diesel. This car has been in the family for the past 10 yrs but was used very little in the past 5 yrs and needs some maintenance. No longer able to perform maintenance due to health reasons. Car was purchased in California and was shipped to Maryland by current owner. Car was used almost exclusively during the spring /summer/fall months. I cannot swear it was never in the snow but I cannot remember it ever happening. At any rate, MD does not use salt on its roads in winter so very little rust are found on cars. Car does not have any obvious dings or dents that I can see and would expect for a car this age, but the gold paint seems thin and worn in places. Close inspection will reveal imperfections, not obvious from 3 - 5 ft away. Car runs great, motor and transmission seem to be in very good condition. Great highway cruiser, car gets up and goes. May be sluggish off the line but once the revs are up, it will hang with anybody. Sunroof works, power locks work and 3 windows go up and down. Upgraded aftermarket Alpine stereo with two amplifiers mounted in trunk. Interior is in very good condition for its age, but not perfect. There is a tear on the driver seat back bolster and some trim need to be re glued, especially around the seat belt anchor. All weather mats are included. Car can be, and is, driven locally but I wouldn't try driving it to California until the driveshaft carrier bearings are replaced. There is no flopping around of the driveshaft or even vibrations but they should be changed. Within the last 3 months: Replaced brake master cylinder, brake calipers, brake hoses, brake rotors and pads/parking brake shoesReplaced tie rodsReplaced front control armsReplaced 3 shocks. 4th is still on to-do listReplaced front and rear driveshaft donutsReplaced belt tensioner shocksDrained fuel tank and installed new tank filter and pre filterNitrogen filled Michelin tires are fairly new with very little wear Items on to-do list: Fix A/C. Compressor works but old hoses or valves probably leaking refrigerantFix Heater. Driver side cold air in winter. Passenger side is fineReplace both driveshaft carrier bearings. New bearings in trunk and just need to be installedBelt Tensioner pulley and belt. New items in trunk, just need to be installedRear of car squats a little, probably sagging spring.Driver door mirror is a little outside its adjustment limits and may have a broken housing.Radio antenna no longer operatesDriver rear door window needs attention. Stays in up position.CV bootsReplace last shock absorber, new on in trunk Car is for sale locally and we reserve the right to end this auction early if the vehicle is no longer available. |
