Very rare 1993 400E Mercedes, with a huge V8 with 300 HP and a 155 MPH top speed, this car can be a beast and is easily comparable to the legendary 500E. I am the second owner and purchased it privately with 67K about 7 years ago and until recently it provided perfect and reliable service, hence the low starting price. I no longer have a second parking space so it's time to sell it. It was originally purchased in New Orleans for European delivery where the man was based(airline pilot) and as a result has only seen about 7 full winters with most of them being very mild so it has no body corrosion save for a few spots around the windshield and one on the edge of the sunroof, all an easy fix. The paint is all original and still retains it's luster and shine. The interior is in excellent condition, the Becker tape/radio is all original and there is some edge wear on the drivers seat back in the usual spot at the entry, but all the rest is fine and there is no dash cracking or fading on the instrument panel. Pwr leather seats with power head rests, full slide and tilt sun roof, Pwr adjust steering wheel, Pwr passenger side mirror,It does have some headliner sag. The issue I am having right now is that I just can't put more money into it at the moment. I have finally reached that point, plus I have no space anymore...I just did a new wiring harness, which is a big deal with these cars, a complete tune-up including wires, plugs points and the rest and just did a full transmission service including a new filter. Also did the center link on the front suspension and some other stuff, all four shocks and new rubber shock mounts up front, had a custom built center exhaust put on (new one from MB was impossible to find), from the converter to the rear muffler just done and, if that's not enough, a new radiator, thermostat and hoses and belts. Last year I did a set of Goodyear Assurance all weather tires on and rotors and pads and in the spring I had to put in a new blower motor for the heater/AC. Just Gads. It does however need a new AC compressor but I rarely use AC so there's that. Here's what the problem is...I am pretty sure it needs a throttle actuator, they can be rebuilt but I put a used one on trying to save some dough and until the engine get's hot it runs like it always did, but when it gets hot it still runs a little ragged with some misfires, hesitations and poor acceleratio, so the used one, while not making that miserable clacking noise anymore, still won't keep up with the engine's fuel demands under full power. And that's the issue, hence the low starting price which is far less than what I've recently spent and at that price, because of all the work and the clean and all original body would be a great value for someone to set up in perfect operational condition.I have a CLEAR Illinois tile for this car and I AM NOT A DEALER. Please feel free to ask any questions, I will be forthright. THANKS!
