Description of 1986 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class

1986 Mercedes 560 SL Good Condition Runs and Drives Well - No Reserve
I bought this car to restore as the body as it has some slight rust, but I've lost my storage so I've decided to sell.
My Wife drove this car all summer with no issues. Car runs drives and stops well.
Note - Odometer shows 232,000 miles but actual mileage UNKNOWN. When I bought the car
the odometer seemed to be working, but since then I've noticed that it only works sometimes.
The speedo works fine - just the odo doesn't work. I have no clue how long its been that way (the previous owner didn't mention it)
The car runs well and has plenty of power and torque and doesn't use any oil
The interior is a bit dirty. The dash has some cracks and the drivers seat has some wear. Passenger seat has wear and a tear. The car
was in AZ for a while, so the underside it pretty clean, but the interior took a beating from the sun and heat.
The convertible top is in good shape, but a couple areas showing wear from going up/down, but no tears and over all in good shape.
Some surface rust on drivers and passenger doors around the trim area. No holes, just surface rust - a bit worse on the passenger side.
Some slight rust on (2) areas of rear quarters - again slight surface rust no holes. The car has some scuffs and scratches and stone chips. Picture show most of the issues.
Rockers and under car are very clean - only rust in molding areas on doors, so this is a good solid car
Mechanically the car seems fine with only a few issues:
- the power steering pump whines. It goes away once it warms up. I had planned on replacing it, but the steering works fine and no leaks, so I figured I'd wait
until it got worse - which it has not
- The started some times doesn't engage (just spins - no grinding) again, planned on replacing but hasn't gotten worse and starts no problem most of the time, so I have gotten to it
- AC does not work. My Wife likes the top down so we don't care about AC
- original radio has been replaced and the aftermarket radio doesn't work
Car stops well, previous owner did brakes and some suspension work. Car drives straight and tires are good.
If you looking for a good car that you can fix up and drive this is it. I would not hesitate to drive this anywhere and have taken it on many road trips this summer.
Car looks good from 20' away - but not a show car and needs some work but when these are done they go for a lot of money.
