Up for NO RESERVE is this original 100% rust free California 1980 Mercedes Benz 300 SD Turbo Diesel Sedan with 247,199 miles1980 is the final year for the 116 body and the last of the handmade Mercedes Benz.The bulletproof 3.0 liter, turbo charged, inline 5 cylinder, diesel engine starts right up and runs extremely well. These engines are notorious for exceeding 1,000,000 miles. The engine compartment is very hygienicwithout any excessiveresidues.The idle is smooth. The 300 SD does not leak, smoke, overheat or make any unusual noises. The entire drive train is solid and tight.The transmission shifts properly into all gears.The brakes, steering and suspension are in good working order.The climate control-air conditioning will need serviceAll windows go up and down like they should.
-Recent repairs include new tie rods and front end alignment
Cosmetically the car looks great! The paint finish is largely original and very attractive with a lovely shine. The body and chassis are completely rust free, no rust, repairs, blisters, or bubbles. There are minor dings, dents, chips, scratches, scrapes, hazing, fading, touch ups and nicks......The overall appearance is outstanding!
-All 4 tires by Firestone have approx 75% tread remaining-Bundt style factory wheels look amazing!-Nice chrome, trim, stainless, moldings, and bumpers.
The interior is completely original and looks great!The original leather has a lovely patina and in good shape however the leather has shrunk and is torn in some areas (see pics). They are still completely usable and comfortable.
-The headliner, door panels, dashboard and carpet are in good condition.-Good looking interior wood surfaces and trim-Aftermarket JVC radio does not turn on and the power antenna will need replacement.-Minor star shaped chip on front windshield. The windshield seal does not leak but is in need of replacement.-Spare tire/tools-Original owners manuals, pouch, etc.
This is a true German classic that could serve the new owner very well for years to come, they just don't make them like this anymore. This is a great car.
