Description of 1984 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 4S |
Selling this very nice silver 1984 Mercedes 300 DT out of my brother's estate. He worked at Mercedes Indianapolis his whole career and purchased this car last April. I am not a Mercedes aficionado but this car looks great for being 33 years old with 235,000 miles. I have read these diesels are good for a million miles! I have only driven the car once around the block but almost everything seems to work. The car started immediately and ran fine in sub-freezing temperatures. The black interior is in very good condition, but the seating must have been reupholstered at some time because it is just too nice except for a small gash in the driver's seat (see picture). There is an Alpine audio system. Exterior paint is also in very good condition and looks like it could be original. I didn't see any flaking. This car is in very good condition for its age and mileage but not perfect. The following imperfections were noticed: · Some corrosion behind three of the four wheels (see pictures). You don't really notice it unless look for it. · The cut in the driver side seat (see picture) · The dash board lights did not come on at night · My nephew reported the air conditioning did not blow cool air last Sept. Heat and blower works. · The drivers side door will not fully close when slammed or just "flickedâ€. It does close just fine with a normal closing. Feels solid, probably just needs alignment. · The Indiana title lists the mileage as "Exempt" due to age. I really cannot tell from researching the market where this car should be priced. The market pricing seems to be anywhere from $2000 to $13,000 without regard for condition. This would be a great daily driver or possibly a project car for a collector. I am going to start the bidding at $2000, I believe he paid $3500. Please let me know if you have any questions, would like some more pictures, or come see the vehicle. Good Luck! |
