Description of 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series TD

This is a very nice 1985 Mercedes 300 TD. I am the second owner and have owned it for about 10 years. For the last 5 of those years I have been an over the road truck driver so this has not been driven very much at all in that time. I decided to use the opportunity to do a few things to it that needed done.
I have replaced or repaired the following
  • Rebuilt Vacuum Pump
  • Rebuilt and balanced injectors
  • Valve Adjustment
  • New valve cover gasket
  • new upper and lower radiator hoses
  • New absorbed glass mat battery
  • New Engine and Transmission Mounts
  • Replaced large portions of the vacuum system (Yes it turns off with the key)
  • New Fuel Primer Pump
  • New CD/MP3 player and sony speakers (tasteful)
  • Thermostat and coolant system flush
ConditionThis car was kept inside during the winter when I wasn't driving it. It was my Daily Driver for about 5 years. It has minimal rust and it is in the typical Ohio spots. The driver side wheel well has some trailing rust that I tried to capture in the picture. The passenger side wheel well is not very bad. The passenger side does have a dent in the front door and an abrasion on the rear. I don't know how they got there as I inherited that damage with the car. The rear carpet needs cleaning and some of the rear trim vinyl is showing signs of excessive heat shrinkage. The rear brakes are also in need of repair. I believe it has a locked caliper as it drags very badly when I try to move the car. It would be do for a complete brake job at this point anyhow. Currently that is the only thing I am aware of that would stop this car from driving to California and back. Speaking of California, This is NOT a California car. This is NOT a museum piece that has never seen the rain. This is a well maintained daily driver that is 30+ years old. While it is shockingly good condition with relatively low miles, please understand what it is. It will also need an exhaust pipe unless you don't mind the noise. (I never did)
This car runs well and is well worth putting a little bit of time in to to turn it in to a very very nice car. I am passionate about these cars and have not seen one for sale in this condition for quite a while without an crazy asking price.
What I would do to the car if I was giving it to my MotherTouch up, replace, or repair some of the trimAll new brakes (it may not need everything replaced but hey, its my mom right)New exhaust pipeHave the rear carpet professionally cleaned or possibly get a replacement kit
YES IT HAS THE FIRST AID KIT!
