1981 MERCEDES BENZ 300TD WAGON SURVIVOR 96k ORIGINAL MILES!!!!! CLEAN CLEAN, NO RUS, NO ACCIDENTS, DOCUMENTED ONE OWNER Power Steering, Power Brakes, Sunroof, Wood trim, Air Conditioning, Wow!!! This amazing car was purchased new in 1981 in Miami Florida by a well to do Guatemalan who drove the car down to his native country upon purchase in 1981. The sticker price was $32,000.00- Adjusting for inflation today this would be $88,000.00!!! These wagons were SO popular there was a black market for used ones, as there was a wait of years at the dealership for new ones!!!!!! This car was nicknamed Princess by the owner's family, as it was his pride and joy and he LOVED it. The car was always garage kept and serviced according to manufacturer specifications by the dealer. The wagon has the bullet proof 5 cylinder turbo charged diesel engine. Experts regard this is as one of the most reliable engines ever produced. Half a million miles is not unheard of. This one is barely broken in at a well maintained 96k!!!!! I purchased the car from the original owners wife, and I have known the family for years.
The exterior paint was freshened up a few years ago and shows well. There are some chips and minor defects. Princess was never in any accidents, and is virtually rust free. There is a tiny dime size bubble forming behind the front passenger wheel well, and a small area near the battery. The chrome trim is bright and laser straight. The interior leather style seats and door panels are original and clean and look amazing!!!! The quality of workmanship on this car is truly breath-taking . The sound the doors make when closing is quality that does not exist anymore. There is a tiny hole in each of the front seats, but they are hardly noticeable. Please refer to pictures. The dash with its wood trim is perfect as it had a cover on it since new. All items that I inspected are in proper working order including the air conditioning (blows cold), power door locks, power windows, etc. Carpet is original and mostly nice; however there are a few wear spots and fading. Please refer to pictures. This car is a joy to drive, and has plenty of power, !!! The original Becker Europa stereo cassette system works and sounds great!!!! Well the radio works, I haven't tested the tape deck because I don't have any tapes.... The only item missing is the original antenna, which was replaced with a period correct cellular one 25 years ago. The clock is not working, and I have not tried the heater; but I remember the owner's son telling me it was disconnected many years ago, as heat is not used in this climate. It still has the sealed original first aid kit in the rear compartment!!! The sunroof mechanism is in perfect working condition and does not leak, and the crank looks like new The car comes with all the original paperwork including the original owners manual, maintenance booklet, dealer info and a bunch of other original Mercedes material that came when the car was new. Please refer to photo. I would love to keep Princess, but I don't have space for her. Recent work done- Vacuum pump rebuilt
I have described this car to the best of my ability. This car is 36 years old and has no warrantee. It is the responsibility of any prospective owners to ask questions and inspect the car in person. I will do my best to answer any questions in a timely manner. The rear hydraulic suspension works, and the rear shocks will need to be changed soon. Video of the car athttps://youtu.be/YsSj87hun8I
