Description of 1987 Mercedes-Benz 190-Series 2.3-16 |
I am putting up for sale this well kept and maintained 1987 Mercedes Benz 190E 2.3-16. If you aren't familiar with this vehicle, it is an excellent vehicle with a cult following. The 2.3-16 version of the 190E was created as the factory sport trim for this model. It would form the basis for the even rarer homologation "evo," or evolution version of the car, intended for DTM (German touring car racing). Designed also as a competitor to the vaunted E30 M3, and an excellent alternative to the aforementioned Bimmer. It has several distinct features. Most notably it's quicker steering rack ratio over the base model, an added ground effects kit, and by far the most important, the 2.3L Cosworth modified engine. The 2.3L 16V DOHC inline 4 cylinder engine is a unique and fun powerplant. While not earth shatteringly powerful by modern standards, the 167 HP/ 162 LB-FT is delivered reliably and linearly. Thus making for a fun and enjoyable way to propel the vehicle's 2900ish LB curb weight. The car is also rear wheel drive and manual transmission equipped for extra fun driving. This is further assisted by the faster steering rack, which in turn aids in the turning radius. In short the car is damn fun. If you're in the market for a unique, fun to drive modern classic. consider this one. $15,000 asked, price is negotiable. All fair offers will be considered. Please, don't hesitate to call, or respond to the CL email. The Good: *Largely good cosmetic condition *Excellent Mechanical Condition *Rare Car cool factor *Reliable if not neglicted *Interior Leather in Good Shape *No immediate maintenance The Bad: *Small crack in dash plastic *Sound deadening on the underside of hood has peeled of with age *Some small imperfections in the body and paint *Salvage title, car was in a accident well over a decade ago, was professionally repaired, undervalued by clueless adjuster |
