Description of 1974 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class |
I have always loved cars and over the years I have probably had a few hundred. My wife allows me one “toy” car at a time. I always lose money on them but I guess it is cheaper than therapy. Last July I bought a 66 Mustang which ended up needing a lot more work than was evident when I purchased it. Then in October I found this Mercedes which I truly love. I thought I could finish and sell the Mustang in short order and the Mercedes did not need any work so I bought it and had it delivered to my work address with the plan to sell the Mustang and then start using the Mercedes as my daily driver. Now it is 3 months later and the Mustang still is not finished and at 75 yrs of age. I move much slower so it is going to be awhile. I value my marriage more than this Mercedes which remains sitting at my work place. I have not transferred the title to my name so I have only driven the car a small amount but enough to say the car drives exceptionally well with strong acceleration and good handling. The previous owner had a rebuilt transmission among other work done ($3543. 82) 11-7-13. Also upholstery work for front seats. door panels. etc ($3010. 83) 9-15-2014. Odometer shows 98. 00 miles but is not working. the previous owner estimates 110. 00 actual miles. The air conditioning has been converted to 134A and the car has a Sirius satellite radio. I have set the reserve at $2. 00 less than I paid for the car and I was very pleased to buy it last October and were it not for my circumstances I would love to keep it. |
