Description of 1977 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

This is a 1977 Mercedes-Benz 450SEL that was originally purchased new in Atlanta by Sanford Orkin, former CEO of the ORKIN Pest Control Company. The original name/data plate was found in the glove box along with the original window sticker (see photos). The Benz was discovered in a WV barn a few months ago. It was cleaned up, and oil and other fluids were replaced. It was then inspected by an authorized Maryland Inspection Station. Maryland is one of the tougher states for auto inspections, by the way. 1 tie rod was replaced, rotors and brake pads were replaced, a couple of other minor issues were addressed and it was deemed road worthy.The body, chrome, and trim are in excellent condition. The interior has some issues: cracked dashboard material; front driver's seat back is worn (see photo); The back deck material is ruined, from sun exposure (see photo). The top of the rear back bench seat has deteriorated from sun exposure as well. The bench seat itself is in good condition, as is the front passenger seat.
Air conditioning does not work. The sun roof is sluggish - looks like the liner around it could be the cause. The Blaupunkt radio works great. Everything else works fine. The Michelin Tires are in excellent shape - they passed the MD inspection as well.The former owner placed the auto in the barn and the mileage was recorded at that time - 163,404, and signed the title as the actual miles. The car was not driven until it was placed back on the road by me and the odometer is no longer working. It still reads 163,404. I've driven the car less than 100 miles. So the odometer reading is not accurate, but it's close to that amount.I wouldn't be afraid to drive this automobile anywhere. Classic styling and beauty.
