1968 Mercedes Benz 280SL Roadster One Owner Since New 157,871 Original Miles 4 Speed manual transmission Red (DB576) over Parchment Tex (147) and Black Soft & Hard Tops This 1968 Mercedes Benz 280SL was built in January 1968. It is the 726th 280SL of the 3,290 units built for the U.S. market in 1968. It was the first 280SL sold by Carson Pettit in Devon, Pennsylvania and it has remained on the Philadelphia "Main Line" suburbs with its original owner to this day. The car has been registered and operational since brand new, having never sat unused for any extended period of time. The car is finished in Red (DB576) over Parchment Tex (147) with Black Soft & Hard Tops. The original equipment includes: 4-speed manual transmission, (422) Power steering, (461) Instrument with mileage and English lettering, (503) Left side rear view mirror, (595) Tinted glass, windshield and doors, Kuhlmeister air conditioning and Becker Europa TR AM/FM radio. The car has the original engine (rebuilt) and correct body numbers per the factory data card. The restoration (body, paint, interior, mechanical) was completed in the mid-1980's by a high-quality shop and the restoration is holding up exceptionally well with minimal wear and deterioration. Since the restoration, the car has only been used occasionally, however, the car has always been operational and road-worthy since new and has never sat unused for an extended period of time. The car comes with operator's manual, maintenance book, warranty plate, tool kit and some service records. The car recently passed Pennsylvania safety inspection. The soft top is excellent with a clear rear window. Michelin tires.
