Description of 1972 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series |
11972 Mercedes 250C – 2.8 L Twin Carb, Automatic Transmission (on the floor) Cream exterior / Black bucket seat interior Runs and drives pretty good but carbs need synced. Trans also shifts a little hard but don’t know much about these - the kick down arm was removed for engine work and may not be back in the correct position. Purchased from San Diego CA area with blown head gasket and rebuilt transmission. Upon inspection for the head gasket replacement it was discovered that water/coolant had sat in the engine and rusted the bores and camshaft lobes. A parts car (1970 250C) with approximately 98,000 miles was purchased for the engine and spare parts. The long block was used from the 1970 250C with all other parts either from the original or new. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAIPbMBzgBY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJyMRzUweKc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBTQl_Ww5iU https://photos.google.com/album/AF1QipMp2Kcv-1Nu6ch0fyP3i_-JZgx1xZYxlnCalKjx Work Completed: Complete cylinder head rebuild from Metric Motors, new valves, guides, resurfacing, tested - $1700 Automatic transmission rebuild and torque converter replacement - $2300 (before my ownership) New timing chain and cam sprocket New crank seal and sleeve New motor mounts New battery New gaskets on the block including water passage covers New hoses New belts New starter New air filter New misc. gaskets replaced Rebuilt carburetors Radiator cleaned and pressure tested - new cap New spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, and points Windshield replaced not long before the car was parked (prior to my possession) Condition: 1 amateur repaint several years ago - its okay for a driver A few small areas of rust in the trunk floor from a leaking trunk seal (see photos) – trunk seal has been replaced No other rust areas on the body observed - very solid CA car Interior is clean, carpet is okay, headliner near back window has shrunk a little but fair AC compressor and idler included but not installed Turn signal arm doesn't stay in place in one direction but have a spare from parts car. Several spare parts will go with the car that were removed from the parts car including grill, lights, instruments, switches, air cleaner, lenses, trim, radio, etc. |
