1983 300 SD Mercedes Benz "Monty"Up for sale is my project car that I have owned for about 8 years. I bought it from a couple who rarely used it and it was sitting in their garage for a number of years. They got the car from the original purchaser who drove a lot as a salesman and had put significant highway miles on the car. Once they got the car it was used a few times a year for big road trips. This couple named the car "Monty" to show their fondness for it so I present to you for adoption/purchase "Monty". I think I bought the car with 225k miles on it. so I have not really used it much at all. It has always lived in my garage here in Florida. The car has never seen snow nor ice nor road salt and there isn't a drop of rust on it. It is simply not being used and I could use the garage space. I truly hate to part with it. I am going to lose a nice car and a lot of money. Please take the car and enjoy it. It can easily be your daily driver and gets great fuel mileage. probably over 25mpg. The overall condition of the car is excellent. I tried to show all the defects in the pictures. Interior is nice. seats are great. driver and passenger leather has been replaced with MB leather. back seats are original. Small defects in the dash pad. light wear thru of the color on back seats. no damage just needs some dye or fabric paint. Carpets good. no odors. no smoking car. Headliner is good. one small defect/sag in the plastic piece that comes across over the rear window. I showed a pic of it. I suspect someone at some time pulled on it. I have done a lot to the car and I will attempt to list the major stuff:1. The car was originally anthracite and was showing some crazing that couldn't be buffed out so I opted for a paint job. They did an excellent job. coating the car with an AMG designo Espresso paint that is beautiful. It is black initially. but in the bright sunlight you can see a light brown fine metallic flake that is super nice. 2. New rims and tires. I changed from the stock MB rims to the 18in MB rims as seen in the photos. 3. New AC compressor in the engine compartment and a new coil inside the passenger compartment(it was leaking and causing the problems) so now it has nice cold air. 4. New shocks all around. Billstein just like the originals and the only way to get that true MB ride. 5. New glow plugs6. New fuel lines and return lines7. New Blower motor8. New automatic telescoping antenna9. Many new vacuum lines on the engine10. New tachometer sensor11. New cruise control module12. New filters and hoses13. New Battery14. New Alternator15. New Door strikers16. New teflon slides for the power window regulators17. New fabric door seals (one needs to be dyed gray)18. New tracks for the sunroof and seals. Projects to be done? If you want to do nothing to the car you can. If you are going to take a stab at perfect there are a few projects you can do which are easy but could be done. 1. There is a leak in the vacuum door lock. Sometimes they don't lock automatically. 2. The back seats could use a little leather dye as there is the slightest amount of wear that is exposing the brown natural color of the seat. 3. There is a slight oil leak. Never enough to effect the oil level. but leaves a drip on the garage floor from time to time. Oil pan gasket would fix it. I am just not motivated to do it. i just leave a peice of cardboard on the floor and toss it every few months. 4. Two wheel studs broke from a guy at a shop who overtightened them. No big deal. just need to get them extracted. 5. Locate some window control buttons at a local junk yard or after market. Mine came off and I can't find them. I feel I am over describing the car but I have 100% positive feedback on ebay for a reason. I am looking to represent this car as accurately as possible so you can buy with confidence. I would post my phone for questions but ebay isn't keen on that. So write and I will answer. I will place a low reserve. which represents my original purchase price. All the upgrades will be on me!!BTW. This is the best engine MB may have ever made. It's not uncommon for this car to go 500k miles. This is the motor that. with no mods. will burn anything you can put in it. Veggie oil. fry oil. ETC. As long as it's filtered it will run. Remember. if you live somewhere thats cold you have to add a heater to the fuel line if you are going to burn oils that get thick when it's cold. I originally was going to run this car on used fry oil. but my connection for the free oil failed and I never got to try it. Photo Gallery - click to enlarge Photo Gallery - click to enlarge
