Description of 1959 Mercedes-Benz 180 -- |
Mercedes Benz 180. Year: 1959; I am not sure of the year since I am unable to decode the VIN. Please advise me if someone knows how... VIN: A1200101004438. Model: 180 (W120 in Germany). Produced from 1953 until 1962. Mileage: 20,380. Left Hand Drive (LH Drive). In-line 4 Cylinder 1.6 Litre M135 Engine. 3 Speed Manual Transmission. Made in West Germany. Bill of Sale (Only). Georgia is a no-title state for cars and motorcycles made before 1986. The Mercedes Benz 180 was imported into the United States by a United States Soldier who intended to restore the vehicle since it had low mileage on the engine. However, after having to go overseas again on a deployment a few years ago, he decided to sell the car fast since he was not able to keep it with the change in circumstances. John Harley, the 76-year-old current owner, would like to sell the car since his health is declining. His wife intends to crush everything he now possesses once he passes on since she has not been a fan of his hobby over the years. I am selling some things for him that I'd like to see saved. Overall, the car is in decent shape given the situation, I think. The interior is actually the saving grace on this car and should make a restoration a bit easier for someone. For example, the dashboard, car doors, and seats are in very good condition; there are just a couple of small cuts into the back bench seat (that I think are repairable). I cleaned everything as best that I could. The front driver side door stainless steel top trim is not complete and the back left passengerdoor is missing some sort of trim around the window. However, the carpet will need to be replaced. On the outside, there are some pieces missing from under the left and right sides (under the doors) and there is a dent on the back right side (just going into the back right passenger side door). The car's hood is a bit eatenthrough with rust in a few small areas, too. As you can see, there are a lot of things missing on the body, but many of them are in the trunk. The partsand accessories may be seen in the last few pictures (to include a Becker Radio and hubcaps). The value in this deal may very well be in these additional items that go along with thesale of the vehicle. I did notice that the engine has some metal rusted out from where the battery used to sit. Please feel free to ask me any questions. We will do local pickup or can work with you on shipping (that is arranged by the successful bidder on this car). I am open for any input on this car since I am unfamiliar with Mercedes Benz Cars, but I am trying to learn about them as best I can. I have presented things as accurately as possible, though it is likely I may have overlooked something(s) unintentionally. In the ninth photo, a spider web is viewable on the right side of the photo; that is not a crack in the windshield. |
