Here is a restoration project extravaganza. The 111 body Mercedes are iconic and classy they had very high build quality and were produced in limited numbers. They are rising in value and of course they are not going to make any more of these. To help the confident and adventurous winning bidder assemble one or both of these cars I will include a genuine Mercedes shop manual #6510140213 starting august 1959 and up including the 220seb in nearly new condition. Also a 220se coupe' cabriolet owners manual good condition. This auction is for two restorable cars, Both a very straight and solid 220seb cabriolet and a 220seb coupe also straight and mostly solid. These cars belonged to my late father who had big plans for them but never committed to the project. I have a fair knowledge of these old cars but I have other projects I desire to work on, these cars have been kept under cover for the last 20 years. The cabriolet appears to be an unfinished or disassembled restoration project of the early 1990s. There are some repairs evident to the front fender-wells and front of rockers. There are no visible holes in the floor, rockers or trunk area, there is undercoating on the entire undercarriage of the car. There are no holes or dents visible in the outer-body but the paint is bad, flaky, and partially stripped. The interior of the cabriolet is totally disassembled and most of the dash is missing. One front seat frame is there. there are multiple recovered door panels and some of the trim and a recovered pair of rear seats loose in the car. The molding trim that surrounds the base of the top is all there loose. The top frame is rusty but is complete with trim and latches, the hinges are stuck. The windshield trim is all there inside and out. The engine ran very smoothly 15 years ago and the car would pull in and out of dads garage but the brakes were not functional or installed but i believe the parking brake did function and the automatic transmission would go in forward and reverse. The car also has power steering partially disassembled now along with some other misc engine parts, however all the parts are still with the car, obviously some tinkering is required to make it functional again. I believe the engine is original to this car it has the early intake system a generator and a one piece aluminum oil pan,it had good and even compression when I had the car running for dad about 15 years ago. In the car there is the correct early bumpers in pieces. They will require restoration work to make usable. there is also a later 280se front bumper in decent condition. There is also a collection of brackets for the bumpers and a lot of parts and pieces, I have tried to represent most of the parts in the photos. And now for the coupe. My dad bought it because anything missing on the cabriolet was on the coupe. I know the car was driven to his house and only moved once or twice before some disassembly was done. The coupe has a manual 4 speed transmission with floor shifter and has all the dash components including a fog light switch. On the coupe body there are some small holes in the rear quarter bottom and tire well are, and the back fender-well area of the rockers, there is no visible rust in the car forward of the doors on either side. It is also very straight like the cabriolet. There is no evidence of bodywork being done other then maybe a respray at some time long ago. I believe the engine in the car is from a 1965, it has an alternator and the shorter intake plenum and a two piece oil pan. The front bumper is from a later model also. The taillights are loose but are very nice with nearly perfect chrome. Unfortunately the front windshield is broken, there are lots of windshield frame wood pieces with the car. ( the cabriolet also has the two upper wood windshield trim pieces still installed) The seats are present as are all the door panels with all there trim pieces. I have tried to showcase the parts and pieces in the pictures 25 pictures is not enough to show all the parts present. There are some extra parts and some may not be for these particular cars I do not have any new parts for these cars. I will be happy to try to answer any questions or send you a specific picture as needed. These cars are 20 miles south of Cookeville TN and can be seen with an appointment.
