You are looking at a survivor 1979 Mercedes Benz SL-450 Convertible. They are one of the best years and body styles for these and this has been lovingly cared for by the same owner for over 30 years. Unfortunately, the owner's spouse is deceased which forces the sale of this beauty.

This 1979 Mercedes Benz has been has been elderly adult owned. It runs well and has been extremely well cared for. Cosmetically, it is in great condition but has had one partial or full repaint years ago. We noticed there is a bit of overspray on the edge of the headlight chrome trim, etc. if you look really close.

The interior is beautiful, and the leather is soft and in great shape as shown. The carpet is also in great shape as is the steering wheel and convertible top.

the exterior is rust free or nearly rust free, the wheels are in good shape, and it runs and drives very well. Everything we tested works aside from it needing an A/C recharge. Also, disregard the SL560 emblem on the back, it was added before the current owners purchased the car and they never bothered to change it.

While the tires have almost no miles, they are very old and should be replaced due to age. It should also have an oil change and a general checkover from storage. It is being sold as-is due to age.

Given the condition of the interior, engine, transmission and body, it is hard to find anything cleaner than this. We were impressed with how well the engine starts, runs and idles and how well it shifts and drives. The paint is outstanding and we believe it is the original color combination. There are very minor marks, chips etc, on the body but it is the nicest we have seen over the years. It is a nice honest 450SL in outstanding shape for the age. We also have an owner's manual, some receipts, and a clear title that is in a trust. We are also providing the Wisconsin MV 2790 form for titles that are in a trust.

If you are looking for a new car, no squeaks or rattles, or the reliability of a Toyota Camry, this car is not for you. If you like a bit of patina, understand what you are buying and want a fun summer car, this vehicle deserves a closer look. We ask that bidders know what they are buying.

Any of these should be trailered to their destination until the vehicle is checked over for safety. We are also requiring a bill of sale be signed by the new owner stating this vehicle is being purchased as-is.
