We are proud to offer this documented super low mileage classic Mercedes Benz with only 84,000 original miles. The 4.5 liter V8 powered 280SEL was the last of the W108 series Mercedes Benz. Produced from May 1971 through November 1972, only 8173 of this most powerful iteration of the W108 cars were built. These cars enjoyed a well-deserved reputation for top tier engineering and quality construction. That excellence is still evident today in the example we offer here. The body... and chassis of this sunroof equipped example is rust free and thus structurally sound. The dark olive paint is very good without any noticeable issues and the car is remarkably free of parking lot dings or other small blemishes. The chrome is good without pitting or dullness and all the glass is in good order. The seat upholstery, headliner, door panels, and carpets are all really nice without undue wear. The leather seats have been recovered with the correct German seat upholstery. The carpet is new, as is the headliner. The instrument panel is cosmetically near perfect with only a minor crack in the upper dash. The wood is also in very good condition with no visible delamination. The stereo is a retro CD player that provides quality sound through 4 speakers. The heater control knobs are all solid and functional. A very well maintained car. Mechanically, it starts, drives, and stops as it should. The last owner spared no expense maintaining and upgrading the car where appropriate. For instance, the car was upgraded with a set of new style injectors with a new D-jectronic wiring harness about two years ago. This is a superior set-up over the original one. The transmission shifts smoothly and the 4.5 V8 will hustle the car up to speed in very short order. This 280 SEL 4.5 also has factory air conditioning. The system has been converted to current R134--another major expense already taken care of. The A/C is fully functional and blows cold air. Most notable is the complete service documentation that accompanies this flagship Benz; from its very first in-service entry in 1972 to the very last time the car was serviced. As such, the car's entire service history is documented (by both invoices and original service booklet entries) and you can follow its journey from delivery in 1972 to us having the car in our classic car collection. This rarely happens. Additionally, the car's documentation includes the original owner's manual pouch, owner's manual, said service booklet, warranty booklet, the hang-tag/booklet on engine break-in procedure, the metal MB car data tag, the Becker radio instruction booklets, the original key envelope, and a 1972 dealer leaflet on how to adjust and operate the seat belts. Very cool for all this to be present and truly amazing to be able to travel through time with this Mercedes so to speak, as well as being 100% assured of true low mileage and knowing everything that has ever been done to the car. This is a wonderful classic Mercedes Benz sedan that needs virtually nothing but a new owner to use and enjoy. We invite and encourage prospective buyers to inspect and drive this car. You will not be disappointed. For more information, please contact Geert via email at or by phone to 877-795-1747. Thanks for looking!
