Description of 1988 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class CONVERTIBLE |
You are looking at a very nice 1988 Mercedes Benz 560sl, most sought out after classic that you would be proud to own. It comes fully powered by its powerful bulletproof 5.6Liter V8 gas engine with automatic transmission. It is an awesome two tops convertible that comes fully loaded and very well maintained through the years. Car has always been garaged and comes from smoke & pet free home. The odometer does not work and stopped at 30k/miles. I would say the car has a little over 100k/miles. The car belonged to an elderly couple, for over 20 years that barley used it, yet they were very serious about maintenance. When they bought the car from the dealership, they paid close to $28k as I have the paperwork from the dealer. Car runs, drives, shifts and handles well, so it is road worthy as well as road ready. I am not sure due to what that caused the car to blow black smoke; I thought that was because it was setting for a long time. When I got it, I thought that was due to clogged converters, so I had the shop take them off and run a straight pipe with new muffler and that helped very much with both smoke and performance. I drove the car up to 80mph and it was amazing, lots of power, very straight, does not shake, very steady and stops on a dime. I still have the converters as you can put them back if needed. Car is very strong and sturdy with tight front and rear end. It starts on a click and it idles very smooth. This car is air and water tight, it does have like new window seals and top as well as all around seals. I went through a car wash and not even a drop of water went into the cabin, it is excellent! Well maintained pet free/ smoke free and well cared for car as the previous owners maintained it through the dealership. Clean and clear CarFax history with no accidents at all but does show the difference in mileage.

A small fortune was spent to maintain the car. It has the service dealer booklet and shows the stamps since day one for many, many years. Car comes with power locks, power windows, power mirror, cruise control, AC, hard top, soft top, leather interior and factory alarm. All books, manuals, 2 factory keys, tools, jack, first aid kit and a full size spare tire. All options work on the car as they should like cruise control, locks as well as horn, temp gauge and the clock. AC is cold and could use a charge and heat is hot. All inside and outside lights, turn signals as well as all the gauges on the instrument cluster work as they should. Also, temp. gauge, horn, clock and cruise control work as they should. Exterior as you can see is in very excellent condition, car has no rust with clean undercarriage and it shines very well. Car does not leak any fluids and it is as dry as a bone on the undercarriage. It is a very tight and sturdy car indeed. All glass, lights, lenses and moldings are in excellent condition. Both hard top and soft top are in excellent condition. Car comes with books, manuals, tools and a full size spare tire. Interior is in excellent condition as you can see seats, dash, inserts, wood as well as carpeting is excellent. It is a true classic that had a price tag of well over $61k back in 1988 and now NADA values the car between $16k & $29k. Car may require some repair as I tried to explain above, I am not sure what it needs. Car is selling at no RESERVE; I do have a free and clear title in hand. Car is located in Milwaukee, WI.
