Description of 1980 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 450SLC 5.0 |
A 1980 450SLC 5.0 107 026 12 001195 Project that is listed in the 5.0 Registry. The car runs - drives – stops with 176,404 miles. The 5.0 engine is all original and runs excellent. The original color was Astral Silver but was repainted black prior to my purchase. The good news is that they did not paint any of the door jambs, etc. only on the Surface. The Interior is grey velour with heated seats, and very good overall. There is extra seat material to fix any spots which need repair as shown in the pictures and also along the top of the rear seat by an upholsterer. Since the material is no longer available. The car has been inside the garage for going on 6 years now on jack stands. It was driven from Ocean City NJ to Philadelphia PA and has remained there. The ruff and incorrect 14 inch alloys were replaced with BBS Wheels and new tires. There is an original Euro AMG kit that is available separately. The car has power windows, power sunroof with the wind deflector, cruise control and a Becker Radio. Rust repair has been started - found in the usual places on the driver side rocker, rear quarter panel side bumper mounts and 2 panels inside the trunk. Repair has been made on the passenger side and is being finished in the trunk. When I purchased the car it had the American headlights which were swapped for the European headlights & Wipers. New brakes and shocks have been purchased for the rear. I Have not started the front yet. The goal was to restore the car to a good driving version of what it was like new. Prior to my purchase the vehicle had the radiator core support. radiator and cooling fan replaced with aftermarket parts as can be seen in the pictures. The car was the titled by the previous owner as Rebuilt NE from the State of IOWA 9/2013. I purchased the car and had it titled in NJ and the only option for a title in NJ was a Salvage Title. So I titled – registered and insured it. It was driven periodically in NJ before moving it to the garage in Philadelphia. |
