Description of 1986 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 560SL |
No Reserve 1986 Mercedes 560SL Absolutely incredible condition 1986 Mercedes 560SL. We purchased in early 2009 with 112,000 miles in Las Vegas, Nevada, we have kept this SL in amazing condition, always garaged and only rarely driven (only about 8000 miles since 2009, currently has 120,470 miles). We have decided to sell our 560SL along with our small classic Mercedes collection (1978 450SL, and a 1971 250C) to soon purchase a newer SL, or AMG GT. We have spent over $20,000 in service and upkeep over the past 10 years, ensuring that this classic 560SL be kept in as close to new condition as possible. No expense went unspared, and the car drives absolutely amazingly. Last major service was done by Mercedes By Maurice in Costa Mesa, California (A Professional Mercedes Shop repairing Mercedes for past 40 years), they called our SL practically a “brand new†560SL. We are believed to be the 3rd owners. Originally owned in California from 1990 to 1997, then went to North Dakota according to Carfax. Eventually arriving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2009 (when we purchased it). Wilhelm Bismarck - Jamestown dealership emblem is present on the right side of the trunk, which is believed to be from purchase from a North Dakota dealership. The beige paint looks beautiful and is in excellent shape, and the body is in incredible shape as well with no rust and no dings or dents. Gold emblems, euro headlights, chrome wheel arches, pin striping, and extremely rare perhaps one of a kind gold Mercedes badged chrome wheels are present as well (most likely from Mercedes Benz dealer add ons when purchased new). Recent upkeep and service includes brand new seats and brand new convertible top, brand new aftermarket radio with Bluetooth (done in 2018), new transmission mounts, new upper control arms, gear shifter bushing, new air duct, replaced tie rods and steering shock and steering knuckle, new sun viser clip, vacuum hoses, and spark plugs (Completed by Mercedes by Maurice in late 2019 and early 2020). The only known flaws include a couple very minor cracks in wood trim, and a few small cracks in the dash. The dash cracks can be professionally repaired and closed up, however dash would need to be taken off. According to the people I’ve talked to, this repair is often not permanent as cracks could open again. What is recommenced is to leave as is or cover it with a dash cover. However in the coming years when this rare Mercedes increases in value, it may be worth it to professionally repair the dash. Wood trim can be easily replaced, however the crack is so minor it is not really necessary. Other than what is stated above, the car really needs nothing. Carfax reports “minor damageâ€, as in 2010 a vehicle softly impacted the 560’s front bumper. No body damage at all occurred, and the front bumper was replaced. No accidents are reported. It has been our favorite classic Mercedes we have owned. As this generation R107 neared it’s retirement, it was equipped with the latest technology and automotive improvements of the time, and still drives very modern even to today’s standards. 1986 - 1989 is the most sought after R107 years, and the build quality and driving experience is truly incredible compared to any vehicle. Wehope the new owner enjoys this 560SL just as much as we did. All $20,000+ worth of service records from 2009 to 2020 will be included.California Registration is payed for until February of 2021Vehicle is located in Newport Beach, California. This is a no reserve 10 day auction, please only bid seriously. Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping.
