Description of 1965 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class

This 1965 Mercedes-Benz 230SL is equipped with a 2.3-liter inline-six linked to a 4-speed manual transmission and was acquiredfive years ago from a private collector.Approximately 12,000 miles have been added during the seller’s 5-year ownership, and over $8k in maintenance performed in 2014included a new soft top, brake booster, master cylinder, exhaust system, wheel cylinders, and more.

The car reportedly underwent a refurbishment, though supporting records are unavailable. A repaint have been performed in 2015, and the trunk floor has been replaced.

Factory 14” steel wheels wear polished and body-colored covers and are mounted with Michelin XVS tires date-coded from 2000.

European-style headlamps are fitted up front.

A newer tan soft top was installed during my ownership and is pictured both raised and lowered in the gallery.

A matching Pagoda hardtop is also included in the sale.

A black 2-spoke steering wheel and matching shift knob are fitted.

The body-colored dash houses a period Becker radio and VDO instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer.

The 5-digit odometer shows approximately 22k miles, with total mileage unknown.

The 2.3L inline-six is equipped with Bosch mechanical fuel injection and paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. A service performed in 2014 included replacement of the front crankshaft seal, brake booster, brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders, turn signal switch, exhaust system, and more.
