Description of 1964 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 230SL

The car was repainted in its current blue in the early 2000’s and had an aftermarket air conditioning system installed around the same time.

It is powered by its original 2.3L inline-six that is paired to a replacement 4-speed manual transmission.Used as a weekend driver, had many trips from New Hampshire to New York over the years. The NY Safety Emission pass, expired in March, this year. It is offered for sale with an M-B data card, some books and records, and a clean transferable New York registration in the seller’s name.

A new blue canvas soft top with plastic rear window has been installed and is said to raise and lower smoothly.
The factory Hirschman antenna is present and functional.

The steering wheel was refurbished and repainted due to cracks in the old finish and a Becker Grand Prix radio can be seen on the dash.

The 2.3L inline-six that received a new water pump, new drive belts, fluids,hosesinstalled less than 2,000 miles ago.

The fuel system was restored byH&R injection at the same time and received a boiled gas tank, cleaned fuel injectors, new fuel lines, a new filter, and a new pump.

The power steering fluid was flushed and the power steering box had new seals and o-rings installed. New steering shaft bushings were installed and the brake system has been flushed.

Various period documentation is present from the previous owner including a data card that verifies the engine as original to the car via the matching engine stamping.
