Description of 1986 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 560SL R107 |
1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL R107 Roadster Here is the chance to own THE NEXT COLLECTABLE SL ROADSTER - 1986 Mercedes-Benz !!! What makes this car special is that 1986 was the first year of production for iconic 560SL, and being production date of 01/86 it is one of the first 560SL’s to roll off the production floor!!!! Now that the W113 230/250/280SL's have become priced out of sight, here comes the 560SL. As recently as the mid 1990's, and early 2000’s you could pick up a nice condition 1971 280SL Pagoda Roadster for around $20,000. Almost in the blink of an eye, that's what a basket case now goes for - with good condition examples regularly selling north of $75k and more. There are good reasons for this: scarcity, limited production, and a demographic generational shift that shows the 50's and 60's muscle car prices have peaked andthe next generation is after the desirable cars they remember - which mostly came from Germany in the 70's, 80's and early 1990's. In the 560SL, Mercedes got it all just right, offering essentially bullet-proof reliability, satisfying power, and aggressive good looks. The 560SL combined all that Mercedes learned about the V-8 W107 chassis cars into a cultural icon that quietly and confidently told the world its occupants had "arrived." Simplicity, superb build quality, and an enduring design are all hallmarks of the Mercedes 560SL. The 560SL was the culmination in the United States of what Mercedes-Benz internally referred to as the R107 chassis, a model run that lasted for 18 years, beginning in 1972 with the US introduction of the 350SL. The R107 chassis was one of the longest running production bodies in the Diamler-Benz AG's line, and R107s are extremely well built and collectable. It is also the first V8 powered two-seater to be built at the Stuttgart, Germany factory. Now over 20 years old, 560SL’s are attracting new buyers due to its iconic good looks, simplicity, and vault-like build quality. Walkaround: This SL was sitting idle for the past couple of years and was rarely used due to its owner’s age and health issues. Its owner would crank it up and drive it around the block every few weeks or so to keep everything moving. Engine starts up right up, and the car runs and drives good. This beauty comes in a very rare and elegant Champagne Gold Metallic paint (color code #473H champagnermetallic) over Brazil interior!! There are some imperfections in paint here and there, but overall paint looks good with a nice shine. Body is nice and solid, as well as the undercarriage. This was the Southern USA car its whole life, explaining its nice and solid condition! Interior is all there and for 34 year old car, it’s in pretty good condition. Seats have some bolster repair patches, but structurally they are supportive and comfortable. Original dash has NO cracks or Dash Top covers! (VERY RARE on the SL’s of this vintage!) Power windows work as they should!! This SL comes with both Hard Top and Soft top. Hard top is in pretty good condition, and all glass is nice and complete. Dark Brown Soft top is in good condition and it’s easy to operate!!! Original books and manuals are all present! Title is clear and is ready to be transferred immediately ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD and we will be glad to help winning buyer with finding the cheapest shipping quote for shipping, personally deliver the car to the local port for the out of the Country buyers, and fill out all the necessary paperwork to make it easy and convenient for the winning buyer!
