Service Update:

Maintenance in the last 10 years and 5k miles has included: the replacement of steering parts, shifter bushings, fuel pumps, air conditioning system components, and fluids at 62k miles in 2009.

The left tie rod was replaced along with the steering damper and coupler. The air-conditioning system was converted to run R134a refrigerant with a new compressor, expansion valve, and receiver drier in 2009. Fuel pumps were replaced, and fluid changes were carried out during the 2009 work. New shifter bushings and exhaust hangers were reportedly installed at 62k miles. An engine oil change was reportedly last performed in spring 2019.

During the 60k service which also included A/C compressor and conversion to R134, fuel pumps, shifter bushings and tie rod/steering coupler were all corrected as a result the Master Mechanics inspection. We have put just about 5,000 miles on the car since the major service described.

560 SL Issues

The seller notes:

Scratches and a ding in the right front fender, a blemish on the trunk lid, touch-ups at the right rear corner of the soft top cover, and a scratch on the passenger window as well as a rock chip on the chrome housing for the passenger-side rearview mirror.

The seller notes some cracking of the clear coat on the burl wood trim around the gear selector.

The chrome wheels comments come up every time. The way to look at chrome wheels is as a money maker. These chrome wheels are very hard to find. They can be sold for $300 a wheel and you can buy the standard brushed wheel for $140 a wheel on eBay. Chrome wheels should always be looked at as a positive.
