This magnificent vehicle, a variant of the esteemed W108/W109 S-Class, made its grand entrance in 1972, captivating automotive enthusiasts with its timeless design and exceptional performance. The Mercedes-Benz 280SEL 4.5 is a rare find, and this particular example is one of the finest on the market. The SEL is ten inches longer than the SE which translates into a larger and more comfortable back seat compartment. With a production run that ended in 1973 and a total of only 8,173 units ever built, this vehicle is truly a collector's dream. Don't miss your opportunity to own this exceptional Mercedes-Benz 280SEL 4.5. Beautiful both inside and out, it represents the pinnacle of automotive luxury and performance. Embrace the opportunity to experience the prestige and elegance that come with owning such an extraordinary vehicle. Safety and security are paramount, and this 280SEL 4.5 leaves nothing to chance. We are proud to offer this documented super low mileage classic Mercedes Benz with only 19,000 original miles. The 4.5 liter V8 powered 280SEL was the last of the W108 series Mercedes Benz. Produced from May 1971 through November 1972, only 8173 of this most powerful iteration of the W108 cars were built. These cars enjoyed a well-deserved reputation for top tier engineering and quality construction. That excellence is still evident today in the example we offer here. The body and chassis of this example is rust free and thus structurally sound. This 280 SEL 4.5 also has factory air conditioning. The system has been converted to current R134--another major expense already taken care of. The A/C is fully functional and blows cold air. The chrome is good without pitting or dullness and all the glass is in good order. The seat upholstery, headliner, door panels, and carpets are all extra fine and without undue wear. The VDO instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer which sits alongside gauges for fuel level as well as coolant and oil temperature with an analog clock mounted in the center. The analog odometer currently reads 19k miles. This automobile starts right up, shifts smoothly through all the gears, and runs very well. All power window motors work, as do wipers and all other features. The instrument panel is cosmetically near perfect. The wood is also in very good condition with no visible delamination. The Blaupunkt stereo is an AM and FM radio and CD player that provides quality sound through 4 speakers. The heater control sliders are all solid and functional. This is a very well maintained car. Mechanically, it starts, drives, and stops as it should. The transmission shifts smoothly and the 4.5 V8 will accelerate the car up to top speed in seconds. I have photographed all the Mercedes manuals and documentation to illustrate that it has it's historical records. I have also closely photographed the gas and brake pedals so you can see for yourself the low wear and mileage on this automobile. As you can see in the pictures, this is one of a kind. It is Midnight Blue on the outside which is one of the rarest colors produced for this model year. The 1972 280 SEL has long enjoyed a well-deserved reputation for top tier engineering and quality construction. That excellence is still evident today in the example we offer here. People have different opinions and expectations of older vehicles. It is your responsibility to personally inspect the vehicle.
