Description of 1982 Mercedes-Benz 240D D

Documented ownership and service history with original books—see pics. Originally sold in NJ, then sold to Fr**k Mar*****no of Charleston SC in 2006.I purchased from him in 2015 when he had to give up driving due to age, with 61K miles.

Carefully maintained since then by Mercedes specialist Silver Star Motors of Vienna (see pics of 32 receipts) with many major replacements including:

119,912 original, documented miles. Body is in very solid condition for its age with very little rust—see undercarriage pictures. Paint is original except for the right rear fender(I scraped the wheel flare on a parking garage pillar) and the rear deck lid that was painted at some time before I purchased it--paint is cloudy. It has a current VA registration to July2024, and a valid inspection sticker to August 2024.

It runs but it does not drive. The rear differential failed shortly after I had it inspected in August 2023 (Silver Star Motors had diagnosed it was wearing out June of 2023). According to them, it also needs upper control arms. Driver's seat wobbles. AC compressor needs replacement. Vacuum system disabled. I own 3 other cars so it is time for “Erwin” to go to a new home (he is named after the German tank commander, because 240Ds are tanks!).

Folks, it is well maintained, but not a show car. Clean CARFAX except for one clerical error in Feb 2023. Scammers: I work in law enforcement. You are forewarned so I recommend you don’t try.
